What do you think Kendrick or Bad Bunny could have done during their halftime show to inspire the youth about the Epstein case? I promise that’s a question meant in good faith despite how it reads

I am saying revolutionary messaging in music and actions during the half time show , interviews , awards shows while entirely in an institution controlled by scumbags can inspire the future

    Presenting Kendrick Lamar:

MY HAIR IS NAPPY MY ___ IS BIG!

    Crowd:

  • Hip hop is obsolete man. It's part of the status quo, and a fading part at that because of how stale it is. Mainstream rap is massive industry and the rappers at that level are probably guilty of being perverts themselves.

It's time to move on from artists "using their voice", and just regular people strapping up and making s*** happen. Art is a commodity and artists are salesmen, don't put it on a pedestal.

I don’t think you understand why he’s not touring in the US

He’s not touring in the states because he knows many of his fans would be targeted by ICE based on their skin color and his shows would be targeted because of his fan base

That’s not the same thing at the Super Bowl. You’re not getting near that stadium that day if you don’t have any money. ICE isn’t going to get anywhere close to the Super Bowl because the people there are rich and ice isn’t disrupting their big day.

He’s not boycotting playing in the states as a principled stand to deprive the states of his work, but to protect his fan base, and the people in his fan base that are at risk aren’t anywhere near that game.

San Francisco has the most ice detention centers. I think this is a bit of a cop out excuse tbh

So what’s the solution? Latin artist don’t perform in any state that has ice facilities? It’s already been pointed out that Tim Cook is close with Trump , let’s Apple give information to ICE and Israeli ai contract . This loops back to when I said we exist in a system . Without an actual revolution yes everything will feel performative due to who controls society . Doesn’t change that it’s better than nothing . S*** I know some extreme leftist who want celebrities to mention Epstein files . Those in control that committed atrocities aren’t going to stop because they are called out . The lower class uniting is key

No, it’s not a cop out you’re misunderstanding the reason he’s not touring in the states.

I just googled it and idk but google says there’s no ice detention centers in San Francisco, but even then the game was in Santa Clara so you’re just reaching for reasons to criticize

Literally could have Michael Jordan-palmed someone else's mask with both hands sending em to the floor like a RKO and cuss them out the entire time with nothing called

That does show our power in a way with it being live tv they want to be able to show the audience . If we unite they can’t show anything

During Bad Bunny's performance at the Super Bowl, this face towel was distributed to the audience. On the back, it says “ICE OUT” and the QR code leads to a website with instructions on how to use it during the game. The action was meant for the crowd to raise the towel every time the referee signaled a yellow penalty, displaying the message “ICE OUT” as a form of protest.

The link also includes a donation campaign that raises funds for a project against ICE's actions.

Makes it even funnier that refs weren’t calling penalties

The artwork was created by cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz, creator of the comic strip “La Cucaracha,” which features satires on topics reflecting immigration policies between the USA and Mexico since 1992 in the newspaper LA Weekly.

The illustration on the towel distributed at the Super Bowl shows Bad Bunny holding a heart-shaped grenade in reference to Green Day’s album “American Idiot” and kicking a frozen soccer ball (ICE).

I like how he never responded to this post

We need Lil Baby to make another terrible song capitalizing on current events. That'll do the trick.

It's better they don't and people realize pop culture is not the answer

  • I cant look to hiphop as a primary source of current events?

  • insertcoolnamehere

    they hacked art. absolutely.

let's see what we can hack tho

I misspoke they have the most alternatives to detention. Basically meaning they use a higher level of surveillance to track would be detainees while they wait for hearings. Likely via Palantir. No idea how that's racist.

Bad Bunny one of the biggest voices against ICE.

Taylor Swift is a loser and sooner or later her fanbase gonna look back and be like how she never really used her platform for s*** besides "my boyfriend's red D***" is kinda wack.

I think people expect rappers because hip hop was always kinda looked at as the "political" genre. And as the youngest of genres was seen as where you would get the "real s***"

Never realizing we would already at the end of the genre by now.

Hardcore/punk and associated metal scenes are such a big voice now. It's always been that way to a point but I like to at least bring this up when ever I can.

Everyone should Check out your local scene, see if you can support. Every single show I go to feels like an anti-trump rally out by me. It's nice to at least see one pocket in music trying right now. And you can support as easily as reposting what bands post on Instagram, but I reccomend going to at least 1 political local show right now

  • Jugern0t

NO rapper is my savior, but with someone like him you should expect better. That's all. I will still support him, but his silence is disappointing. Pop artists are speaking up about everything going on right now more than rappers. That's pretty crazy.

There are people out there, on this site even, that hold everyday americans more accountable for stuff like gaza and kamala than they do their favorite rapper
