Nas a GOAT but he isn’t an icon. He has an iconic album tho
Lmao he isn't an icon? Even Ye recently admitted he always looked up to Nas fashion wise, one of the flyest rappers OAT. The pure embodiment of hip hop. Stop being ignorant.
Top 5 rappers for people who live under a rock and don't listen to music:
Pac
Jay
Snoop
Kanye
Eminem
All of them have reasons why they're notable outside of music and represent the game in a very public way.
50 Cent is more famous than Jay Z so is Wayne.. so is Biggie.. so are Dre and NWA.. yeah Idk about this
Worldwide:
Eminem
Snoop
50
Pac
Then you have Dre, Kanye, Hov, Drake and... Ice Cube (yeah)
And then you have Biggie, DMX, Nas, Kendrick, Wayne, Eazy E, Xzibit (yeah lol) etc

First why you snapping it’s just nas. Second I still acknowledged he’s a goat, he just isn’t that iconic to me outside of his iconic album illmatic. I could give a f*** what ye said lol.

“It’s just Nas”

Jay is a billionaire and Beyonce's husband, he's way more visible for casuals than just about anyone else you could name if we're being real
“It’s just Nas”
Lmao I ain’t mean to discredit bruh like that he one of my fav rappers I’d honestly put him in the honorable mentions but in terms of being top 5 most iconic idk

the disrespect

Maybe just from being the guy who stands next to Beyonce Idk, but I feel like casuals were more impacted by NWA's movie as a more recent event for example. Biggie just had a documentary on Netflix. And Wayne probably still does better numbers than Jay if Jay didn't hide behind shady deals to hide his real numbers.

Nas influence and history runs too deep. He’s the rapper other rappers get star struck when they see. The list doesn’t look right without Em and 3K but it’s hard to remove anyone. Wayne could probably make an argument to be on it too.

Wayne is def on the list and I see what u mean maybe because growing up nas was kinda out of his prime so I’m not SUPER connected like some but I can still acknowledge what he’s done
How?
Nas is much more than "the guy who made Illmatic", most of his albums are platinum and critically acclaimed, he has given rappers the blueprint on how to make a mature album with Life Is Good, made an album with Bob Marley's seed and also collaborated with Amy Winehouse and she had a song written about him, was featured on most of the classic albums of the 90's that weren't his own (OB4CL, The Infamous, Hell on Earth, Doe or Die, 4, 5, 6, and so on), won a beef vs. the hottest rapper in the game and his record label who were trying to end him, put a new generation onto the likes of Rakim and Slick Rick, most recently won a Grammy for rap album of the year, etc etc..
Tbh Nas has more material for a great autobiography and biopic than any other rapper
Yo I forgot how hard the Jay and Bey collab album flopped
Coming off of Lemonade and 4:44 respectively that collab album should’ve been a classic.
"Made the chain famous, the fade famous"
"Razor cutter, nineties, eighties lover, raised in gutters
Raised above it, the 'made it up out the hood subject' - I made you love it"
Casuals aren't even close to being aware of how deep Nas' cultural impact runs on hip hop lol

They blew it big time, wasted the opportunity on a half assed trap influenced hit-seeking album
