as someone who has family from a socialist country you really don't understand the kind of oppression there is and will be in that environment. Who ever is in power will run it so we are basically at the mercy of those, even if it starts with the right people in power in the end it will turn to this due to human greed and other factors. No one in America is oppressed in 2021. You guys don't know what oppression is, period.

no one oppressed In America, theres a classism struggle that you can get out of in America, real oppression is where you CANT get out of it, you can live in butt f*** Idaho or Memphis in the projects and find a way to nyc or LA if you really tried and make something but in real oppressed countries where socialism is at there is NO WAY, even if you work the hardest still no way unless you apart of the corrupt political parties. Thats oppression not America.

If this was said in 2007 before the 2008 recession. I might have a semblance of a chance of believing in you.

People are JUST now realizing how far back generations that that s*** set people back, we're barely grasping how much lasting damage this pandemic is put on people where on record America is doing its best to leave its biggest at risk people in the dust.

@op is just coming from an out of touch position.

Oppression simply means most don't make it. Nothing has 100% certainty (besides eventual organic death). Add capitalism which relies on the same principle, and you end up with the top 1% of the top 1% owning/running everything.

bruh like I said you can't get out of your situation in another countries as there is no outlet, you can live in the projects in the middle of no where in America and find a ticket to nyc and find a way and grind. I grew up in the hood in Toronto pre pandemic id do anything just to get to America because theres so much opportunity there, id come for like a few months and work under the table to live in nyc or where ever but every time you only get 6 months and you finessing and get caught you're f***ed, imagine if I could just get a regular job and hustle... being an American alone is a MASSIVE PRIVILEGE that people around the world will kill for, its still the best country in the world to make it big from zero. Most of the s*** holding you back is mind state.

edit since you say pre 2008, nah pre pandemic is the only real statement even during Trump if you were smart you can make s*** happen, my cousin from Toronto one of the biggest street niggas I know, he went to LA and within 3 months made half a mill legally just by making connections and understanding business. In Canada you don't even have the same type of opportunity America has.

The white f***s who lived in caves in Europe became parasitic and stole it all from Africans and stole the land from the indigenous, too. Does all of that oppression just dissapear? What about how the US was founded on that? What about how the foundation of modern capitalism and industrialization was founded on the unpaid wages of slavey? What about how we left many nations with a colonial economy, and ed their technological development? What about that self determination that we stole from these nations? What about how we leeched their self determination to give ourselves more?

Domestically, what about the campesinos? What about the duality of immigrants, who simultaneously create all of the food for the US but at the same time are completely hated? What about the underground carceral slavery state made up of Black people? What about the racial wealth gap? What about the war against migrants, who are fleeing conditions we created? What about inflation, and the non-increasing minimum wage? What about the inaccessibility of a college education? What about the ever-increasing rent, paired with the eviction moratorium ending? What about the violent homeless sweeps? What about the inaction towards a global pandemic which predominantly effects black and brown people?

It's a confusing time we live in. Like I've said before, the U.S. is slowly collapsing. It can't afford to bail out white people like it has since 1776 to the mid 1900s. That's why there's a rise of this "multiculturalism" -- it's a free for all, now.

Anyone no matter their skin color can become a lackey to that white, parastic, settler-colonial capitalism, baby.

Just because a free black man can become Colin Powell now doesn't mean that black and brown people are not oppressed.
