Either way doesn’t look too different from the billion dollar movies in the decade before the pandemic which was Marvel, live action Disney remakes, Harry Potter, Avatar, Fast & Furious, Jurassic movies

I’ve seen all but Jurassic world

Personally I think avatar 2 the best

surprised Jurassic World made that much (online) public seems completely uninvested in that one

Avatar 2 is the only thing on here not nostalgia baiting
Unless you count the 12 year wait as enough for nostalgia feeling for avatar I guess

Avatar 2 definitely counts as nostalgia bait if Top Gun, Mario, or Barbie do imo

I guess even tho the internet constantly tells me no one cares. It’s a sequel that’s been in the works on and off since the original one unlike maverick.

There’s more nostalgia to attract from a 2009 billion dollar movie than a legacy sequel of a successful 80s movie

I personally don’t care for the Avatar movies but I remember how big the market was for it in 2009. The gap only builds hype. Vocal minority who say no one care were still watching the movie just like the vocal haters of marvel movies do

Ur right there’s inherently gonna be nostalgia for any sequel to a billion dollar film from 10 plus years ago.

I’ve seen half of these and only liked 2 of them lol

I’m just glad that there are movies doing well enough to keep theaters alive

You can hate on the MCU all the want, but it’s a fact that they have helped out the theater industry immensely

It made $980 million, so it’s basically a billion dollar movie

Nolan just has to do a theater rerelease in a few years to get it over the billion dollar milestone

Of the 7/8 I’ve seen… I would say top gun is the worst here lol

All of these films would’ve made a billion pre-pandemic as well, possibly more

I don’t think this list really says anything about how the pandemic affected the film industry

I’ve never understood why people act like that movie is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It’s a decent to slightly average action film, very generic at times
