@aristilde @LastFrontier_ they actually talked about Bray Wyatt’s passing
What sphere of influence does Blonde have? It’s a cult classic, and that is it. Far from an “objective classic”. What album in the last five years that was highly appraised, whether commercially or critically, where everybody could point to Blonde being one of the lead influences of the project?
Like who calls Blonde a classic that isn’t already a Frank Ocean stan? Cmon bro objective classic? That’s putting it on a Thriller, MBDTF, Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic level. Obviously music isn’t objective, but making that type of claim “objective classic”, that means it should at least be common to hear non Frank Stan’s, and general fans agree that Blonde is a classic. And that isn’t the case.
U can pull examples of blonde influence in hella artists across several different genres. Impact wise, it's been 7 years since and there's still a huge number of people wanting a follow up, enough to headline Coachella off it. Its been on the charts for 6.5 years. It's highly regarded by critics and fans.
So it has quality, impact/influence and longevity. Really what other area can u pull to say blonde isnt a classic ?

!
i think people want classic to mean “it’s one of the greatest albums of all time and every person on earth listens to it daily”.
classic means it had an impact, stood the test of time and people regard it as not good, but great and important even after the recency bias has worn off
Vince comparing chances The Big Day to classic RNB is wild lmao
Vince on this episode? Let me tap in asap

Just cause other singers not copying Blonde (besides a few) doesn't mean it doesn't have any influence. Literally ask any singer who their favorite contemporary singer is and the answer is Frank lol. I'm not gunna put it on Thriller level but let's not act like it's not one of the most important albums of the 2010s
The conversation they had this pod was great. Love Vince. It's crazy though that Joe will complain about how bland modern music is and s*** on the artists that don't drop every single year in the same episode
Also Obama was obviously just saying that s*** to get hippie p****

Fam what are you saying
Do you read what you type out before posting? “just cause other singers not copying Blonde (besides a few) doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any influence.”
Who are the few singers with projects where you can point to their project and Blonde specifically, not Frank Ocean in his entirety being the influence?
Just saying a whole lotta nothing
One of the most important albums of the 2010s is a crazy proclamation. Y’all still ain’t named not 1 artist who draws directly from Blonde but it’s apparently soooo influential. The most significant thing about Blonde was how Frank used it to get out his deal. That is what people talk about anytime it’s brought up. Not the music, him finessing the labels out his deal.
See and y’all make me come across as a Frank hater. I love him. I don’t think the praise y’all give him is deserved tbfh, but he’s still a great artist. But bro hasn’t put out the same amount of music as any of his contemporaries, so it’s just straight up unfair to place him above most of them in totality

Dawg why are you so bothered lmao. SZA literally one of the biggest RnB acts and she is directly influenced by Blonde. She is obviously more pop which is why I said just cause it isn't a directly copy doesn't mean it isn't influence.
And why do you separate Frank being the influence from Blonde being the influence? He has released 4 total projects with Blonde being the latest and still being relevant to music discussions today, of course that is the influence lol

Takes me less than 30 seconds to write up these post bro. I’m not bothered, it’s just discourse.

So I am genuinely asking, which SZA project is drawing directly & mainly from Blonde, and in what way? Is this also something a majority of people would say?
I separate the 2 (Frank & Blonde) because the discussion is centered around Blonde specifically, not Frank Ocean as an artist. I’m a Frank Ocean fan, that’s completely different from me liking Blonde or not.
You’re just naming random names and no projects lol. Cmon man.
ur goal post moving, a whole project doesn't need to be influenced by blonde, for blonde to have influence lol. But here's the albums and songs from artists on that list that were influenced by Blonde

Kendrick - YAH
Sza - parts of CTRL, perfect timing and Blind
Daniel Caesar - Freudian
Travis - My Eyes, Parasail

Choker - Peak
Lorde - Louvre
Brockhampton - Ginger
Omar Apollo -
Jaden Smith - Syre
