Spotify so wild for dangling rolexes and vacations
nasty award
Why not just gift low end rolexes instead of an open ended offer and shutting it down off of the price
Spotify nasty for all this
This was so well laid out and executed, its crazy that Spotify even allowed it to air
glad they stickin with the 2 episodes a week post spotify deal.
Somehow I feel slightly less empathetic for the situation since it seems like they didn't negotiate a good contract. Like how was vacation/paid holiday not discussed? Also can't expect these businesses to have souls, Joe should know that already. You don't get what you don't ask. They need better managers / lawyers.
How come they couldn't even get days off during holidays that sounds like s*** you supposed to add in your contract right?
Lol Joe/Ian might be the worst negotiaters in his history.
1. Always get healthcare
2. Always get vacation time
3. Get paid your value
Just because someone like Joe Rogan / Obama’s / Amy Schmuer negotiates better than you doesn’t mean you automatically get a similar deal or better deal later.
Feel bad for the guys tho. Spotify is simply banking on their other podcasts they have now. JPB no longer has leverage. Spotify spent so much money acquiring those other pods they obviously cannot sustain that for ever. Purchasing gimlet and parcast is a major move.
But all the cacs were just saying it was Joe's fault and we should trust the company tho?
Literally everything they mentioned should've been outlined in the contract. The s*** with Joe's dad was foul but are we EXPECTING a multimillion dollar company to give a f*** and show compassion? ESPECIALLY Joe?
Nah bro. They should've went into this deal assuming that anything not in writing didn't matter. Because in business it really f***ing doesn't!
Did you not here what rory said a couple weeks ago about this s***? Contracts are never air tight. Their intentionally vague to f*** over people. Stop being an armchair lawyer
They took the f***ing touring money bro. Do you hear the conversations these same people have every other week about other artists? Can't believe anyone really thinks like you. You probably aren't from a business background
Do people think a corporation like Spotify is a soulless vulture of a business, or do they think they're a reasonable entity? Pick one and stick with it. The former ain't giving you s*** that wasn't already in writing, that should be assumed
are these dudes who were talking about being about their biz and wondering how people sign s***ty contracts and all that, now talking about how s***ty their spotify deal was

All I'm tryna say. I'm almost in disbelief at the guys
why
A load of smaller things leading up to the main issue being that Spotify isn’t willing to offer them what they think they deserve
From the way Joe was talking it sounded like he knew signing with Spotify was a bad idea from the jump and still signed.
These guys talk about knowing your worth and not signing s*** that doesn’t fit what you’re due all the time yet still signed a contract where they had to ask for leave on holidays and couldn’t even get that leave. Idk, it seems that Joe even with all the talk he does about artists and the creators and signing s*** he saw the money and rushed to sign anyway.

I think they’re a company that’s barely making even and are in millions of dollars in debt, hence why they are acting the way that they are

Right this what i just was posting. These dudes steady talking s*** about about the exact situation they put themselves into.
Was Joe Budden Podcast ever #1? Joe and co have repeated it ten thousand times now and they’re at #34 r now lmao

From what I understood Joe said he signed with Spotify because it would be good for brand awareness, and could use the success of Spotify’s brand to leverage great deals with other companies, which Joe did for his deals with Revolt/Viacom
