Don't see podcasts being a lucrative investment for spotify. It would probably get too networky/coporate and might push people away and also attract numerous bs that it'll get diluted. But still I don't see podding bringing in that much for Spotify.

They gonna make more money investing into the podcast industry than, music streams

Well that's what Joe is talking about

Just because you bring on somebody high named doesn't mean they know how to podcast

Meanwhile your lab rat outperformed your main experiment by 900% lmao

idk why people itt not understanding this lol

Oohh just reached the "passive participation" portion about Spotify taking a portion of profits from Joe's Pull Ups, n tours etc

I wonder how Mal, Rory, and Parks really feel not just about Spotify's proposed deal, but also about Joe/Ian doing all the negotiating. Its almost as though they're employees instead of partners. Also when Joe was listing all the millions he made when the rest of the crew isn't earning like that was selfish, because I'm sure if he didn't he didn't have those other ventures he would've took the deal.

Even though Akademiks already had his own brand/company before ES, he made the right decision not to follow Joe.

They already discussed this when the call her daddy podcast discussion came up on the podcast.

Joe ended the speech with “A lot of this is your first time hearing it” to the 3 others. Said he had lost 1 night of sleep if this was a bad decision for his team because they had not made the same M’s as him, but the next day he woke up and did not feel like that so much, and then Parks laughed.
Make of that as you will

I don’t think this pod crew is something long term, I could see Joe continuing the podcast but the other 3 have other s*** they could be doing. Joe is too volatile and selfish.

i think he had a lot more value to them 2 years ago

a lot of what spotify gained from having him they'll still have if he leaves. he's made a lot of people like us go to spotify for podcasts for the first time, but now his audience is in the habit of going to spotify for podcasts, they'll keep using spotify that way if they're subscribers.

that's really what spotify needed from this exclusive.

he seems to know this tho by saying he doesn't want them to 'pillage' from their video content too.

a lot of the podcasters he influenced to put their podcasts on Spotify will probably stay there too and now they've got Joe Rogan they can influence way more listeners and podcasters than they did with Budden.

forreal! Like I can see how compared to Rogan getting 100 for the deal getting watches feels disrespectful

But nigga dont hit me with "I'm nothin but the lord's Shepard and messenger" when youre just about to vent about some s*** that should happen behind the scenes it's whack

And whether they like it or not Rogan has the biggest podcast in the world--why do they feel so slighted comparing themselves, a david, to goliath? Like I love this pod but S*** makes 0 sense to me

    You literally didn't listen

I cant even feel bad for Mal & Rory, frankly they would not have any pod career with out Joe and they fail to be astute enough to realise this is, and always will be a ticking time bomb with Joe. Wherever Joe goes even as a musician its always someone else fault.

It was Jay-Z as Def Jam CEO, then it was def jam in general, then it was Peter rosenberg when he ran Shady, then Em himself didnt do enough, then it was Complex and the shows producer, now its Spotify.

Anyone who isnt biased can connect the dots here. And everytime Joe fails to get what he wants, he burns all the good will with the company. Frankly Akademiks seems to have proven himself leaps and bounds a better media business man then Joe

The only acquisition that they acquired in that 2 year timespan that is outperforming them is Joe Rogan though lol. Like he said Joe Rogan is the exception not the rule. There is no podcast you can compare to him at all. He is in a league of his own.

So all of you saying they have no leverage I don’t really get it? The deal they offered was a 360 deal, I don’t think Rory or Mal, especially Rory wants any part of that. Even if the money up front is more than they’ve ever seen in their life.
