you are talking out of your ass.

statements from banks? wtf would that show? why is banks plural? your company has one bank. you don’t have access to bank statements from your clients/service providers/vendors. you wouldn’t provide an employee with the company’s bank statement either.

expense reports ‘from where I have attained the money from.’ ??? what?? that doesn’t make sense.

stop capping and pulling words out of thin air just bc you already said one dumb thing and have nothing smart left to say.

    wtf would that show?
    Documents that cant be altered
    why is banks plural?
because all money doesnt run through one company or person because its Hall Government. This means sometimes the RA may use her money to buy materials for programs and what not.
    expense reports
this shows where I got reimbursed and where it goes, this may or may not be tied into the Banking documents previously stated.

man stfu. doing the little budget for your dorm and submitting expense reports when people buy things so they can get reimbursed =/= handling the accounting for a company that brings in millions in revenue and has real employees that earn salaries and profit sharing.

Lol. idk how the hell there is a debate about accounting reports that goes to customer but it is absolutely not correct to get the official account reporting or statement for a company provided as just a excel file.

For quarterly or monthly earning reports they should have been getting an itemised account report usually in pdf (or even by post) on headed letter paper. It could have been built using excel or quick books or w/e but you can not send a raw excel file to your client and say here is the accounting report.

If I had to guess Joe had these people as an internal accounting team and then had them send it out, which could be an excel file. However as the final report for an accounting of profit partnerships reflecting itemised expenses and income sources, detailing the net and gross costs, revenue profit it is absolutely NOT correct to just get am excel file. Its like you asking your bank for your official bank statement and they just provide the .csv export from the banking website. It is not acceptable, and that is not debatable.

I do accounting (im the CFO) for my Hall Government and I do it on Excel. But if I were to deliver an official accounting of the expenses from accounts themselves I’d get actual statements from banks and expense reports from where I have attained the money from. You niggas are wrong.

you just admitted that you do accounting in excel

Accounting is what Rory and Mal asked for and that's what Joe and his lawyers provided. And this is usually done with excel you clown.

what Rory and Mal meant to say is they want a full blown audit which is a full examination of the financial reports of an organisation and that's usually done by a third party.

rory and mal are not customers bro.

obviously you send an itemized report with associated invoices and receipts to a client (customer) bc they have their own accounting to do. also bc it will be less info since it’s usually for one project at a time.

there’s literally ZERO difference btw an excel spreadsheet and a PDF file except that it’s been exported to be a PDF.

sure you can argue that it’s more formal to provide a PDF but there is no substantial difference in the actual accounting. and the PDF adds nothing other than like you said, a letterhead possibly.

as a project manager, if I asked accounting for an in progress accounting, I would absolutely expect them to send an excel spreadsheet.

and as a profit share partner employee if I asked my company for a full breakdown of revenue, expenses, and profit, I would still expect an excel spreadsheet. although I wouldn’t mind a PDF. I wouldn’t care either way.

if I wanted more than that, like say a full audit including all of the receipts and invoices, I would expect pushback and for them to look at me crazy bc it’s a lot of f***ing work and an aggressive form of mistrust.

they were suppose to get those quarterly financial reports but Joe never released them for some reason.

but they kept using "accounting" as a way to try and see the profits and expenses and where the money is going. And that's where the miscommunication and not understanding s*** on both sides caused an issue.

Main thing im trying to get across to some of these dudes is that accounting s*** is usually done through excel.

The clown thats trying to argue with me even claims that he does his accounting in excel.

So Joe isn't wrong for giving them that excel sheet. It's just not what they were looking for. Joe literally said he talked to his accountant and that's how they did s***.

What they should've asked for was the full financial report which Joe refused to show.

So if they wanted to see it, they would have to audit.

They are profit participants but they aren’t owners from what I gather. From what we understand only Joe is.

So i dont see how the JBP accounting firm hired can simply provide a excel file to profit participants to reflect where there money comes from for the business. In a way they are a customer here regardless if they are employed/contracted with the JBP. I’m not a lawyer, but I really doubt that it can suffice as the regular reporting or statement provided to reflect the money they received.

Maybe your right, that this would suffice as i don't know how there contract is structured but if they are truly profit participants then im pretty sure i would expect they get a headed letter statement.

im just starting but i’m so glad he addressed the ‘excel spreadsheet’ thing.

that was the dumbest thing mal&rory kept saying. (no offense to them.) accounting is almost always done in Excel. there’s nothing suspicious about that. I cringed every time they said it.

I mean, all accounting people do MAYBE is export the excel doc to a PDF if someone needs to see it.

very few ppl still use quickbooks tbh and even that basically looks and operates exactly like excel.

it’s so weird this type of s*** is what tore them apart. like, literally the most basic, google-able thing.

It wasn’t the fact that it was done in Excel was the problem. It’s that the entire accounting of the podcast was small enough to fit into the bottom half of a sheet of paper

    Wait a minute.

    You have your own company?

Do you give your employees access to the books?

How many employees do you have?

HR pays your employees instead of finance?

Yes. My employees don't get paid based on profit but hours worked and miles driven...depending how it turns out
    My wife is my accountant/HR
    I have 11 employees
They have access to their records of hours worked vs miles driven and which ever one is higher is how they are paid..

Where did y’all get this narrative of Rory & Mal having a problem with the account being an Excel sheet?

Y’all just listen to what you wanna hear and immediately tuned out the rest. The problem isn’t Excel itself, it’s that what was recorded was apparently so short it fit on half of one sheet of paper. For a podcast of 20+ people on payroll alone, that is super suspect
