first there was a "5 line email" then there was an excel spreadsheet that didn't have many more line items than the email. so those were two separate things

accounting isn't proof of expenses and income. it's a record of them. so a line item in accounting might say "Revenue" and "$200,000" or "Transportation" and "$20,000" (as an expense) but if you want proof of those revenues or expenses then that's beyond the scope of accounting

basically accounting is just the numbers that say what the costs and expenses were, but what they wanted was proof that those numbers were correct, which would involve looking at receipts and contracts. if you work at a company that lets you expense meals or transportation for example, you typically have to keep the receipts for those things (although that's a lot easier with uber / lyft since they send email receipts)
