? The name of Persia is entirely descended from a Sumerian name relating to the Zagros mountains. That’s the earliest historical record of the areas name. The people in the area around Urmia were the first to identify as Persians

That's cause they migrated there and named it after themselves , are you Saying Pars is a sumerian name originally? Not Avestan?

In Avesta there are references to Pars. It was the name of a region in a high mountainous area in Afghanistan that fed the hirmand river. It was called ipersan (اپارسن) which means the eagle that flies the highest.

I'm not sure about the sumerian name origin theory @americana is talking about

By the way im not trying to say that the Kurds are more op than the Persians, not at all. The current regime aint even Persian; they d*** ride 12 descendents of the Arab prophet and hate pre islamic Iranian culture and that's why they hate the Kurds because the Kurds are one of the original Iranian tribes that've held on to their heritage strongly through millenias.

Seems to be an ongoing trend (lack of a better word) for clerics of the minorities to stand up and speak up, seen the same for several Kurdish cities as well as Baluch

    important and needed.

The regime wants to erase any culture that predates their nonsensical bullshit. I’m glad some clergy have common sense to stand up against this.
