Yeah, figured it was the studio wanting Ellie to show up and the plot to kick off in episode 1. Oh well
MOTHERFUCKER
In the aftershow podcast Neal and Craig are doing they alluded that it was originally going to kinda be that way but ultimately they decided they needed Ellie and Joel to be introduced to eachother in episode 1.
Yeah I think Neil and Craig are bullshitting and just dont wanna admit they were forced to change things around a bit
It totally wouldve worked better the other way but I guess ultimately it doesnt matter

Joel throwing a kid in the fire would have been a dogshit ending to episode 1

Sarah's death would've been a better ending tbh. Let the audience dwell on that for a bit.

Nah they admitted it lol the execs told them the show had no driving force to bring back viewers for episode 2. No instinct to keep going. No plot. They said they should move the Ellie immune reveal to episode 1 and start the journey to keep viewers coming back

I mean the early 2000s style we would hear shots fire and then not know what happened til next week
Which would work well if we didn't know the plot of the game.

She's clearly dead in that shot though

you must have not watched early 2000s tv. I mean we would hear a gunshot and see a black screen. So often early 2000s we would be like "well we didn't see them die"

They did go through a lot. I didnt expect Joel and Ellie to meet so fast. I can see Tess dying next episode too at this pace

at this rate I would wait til pc on sale. between Resident evil 4 remake and last of us I want re4 more
IN FACT I am going to hit with the hottest of takes that I enjoyed RE4 more than the Last of Us but understand why Last of Us classic. I am just okay with a goofy dumb story and fun gameplay
