NunTheWiserIn the aftershow podcast Neal and Craig are doing they alluded that it was originally going to kinda be that way but ultimately they decided they needed Ellie and Joel to be introduced to eachother in episode 1.
Yeah I think Neil and Craig are bullshitting and just dont wanna admit they were forced to change things around a bit
It totally wouldve worked better the other way but I guess ultimately it doesnt matter

Nah they admitted it lol the execs told them the show had no driving force to bring back viewers for episode 2. No instinct to keep going. No plot. They said they should move the Ellie immune reveal to episode 1 and start the journey to keep viewers coming back
