I think people give it a bonus because of the magic of seeing the game moments/ nostalgia but some critics have never played the game. Some shocked that a game could have such a developed story. It is what it is

But also some truly love it and it’s emotionally moving them

Succession is a net positive show. Some great stuff in there. Didn’t like the most recent season but some of the character work and acting is far above average.
