I thought the whole revenge plotline and mass murderer ellie was too much of a leap of logic from how she was presented in game 1 . last of us 1 and 2 game spoilers

For a Season 2 they knew they needed to change her so they are.

Going into it you must have known they would make changes catered to future seasons

Seeing the person you love the most get their head bashed in will push you to do that. Especially in a post apocalyptic world where she's already killed and been surrounded by death since she was a kid. It really wasnt a leap at all for me
