I mean, the actress that plays her in the show is already like 26 so they'll prob just stick with her
Damnnn had no clue she was that old lolll
Well yea we’ll definitely see her in season 2
TIL actors shouldn’t be good looking
there are literally so many "ugly" actors. you're dumb
I'm not saying he needs to be taking on armies of raiders or clickers every episode am I.
The show can absolutely be more gritty and visceral in the way it handles the encounters. They are far, far too scarce.
Him snapping one raiders neck and getting shivved is absolutely nothing in comparison to the fear the game injects in you trying to escape that science lab, and then having to literally get carried out by Ellie. It's unbelievably rushed and watered down in the show.
The main character literally just got stabbed. I want to actually feel something at that point, not just 'oh another story beat has been hit'. Emotionally I didn't really feel anything - no fear, no worry, I wasn't on the edge of seat, I wasn't caught by surprise. I understand I've played the game, but that's not an excuse, there's still an emotional investment there that wasn't bridged.
I mean you can say playing the game isn't an excuse but like, its hard to feel anything when you know the outcome lol. its the same as if i had played the game again lol im not going to feel it as much
Also, you kind of are saying he does need to be taking on raiders and s*** lol. because how did they create that feeling in the game? joel takes on a bunch of raiders until he gets caught off guard and literally is impaled by a pole
imagine if they made it like the game where ellie gets f***ing mollywhopped by a crowbar and then somehow shoots the guy dead 3 seconds later
imagine if they made it like the game where ellie gets f***ing mollywhopped by a crowbar and then somehow shoots the guy dead 3 seconds later
edit:
its not even 3 seconds lol she gets f***ing hammered while reloading under immense pressure and somehow holds onto the gun and just shoots the guy
crazy s*** even tho the dialogue and voice acting preceeding that was f***ing 10/10
imagine if they made it like the game where ellie gets f***ing mollywhopped by a crowbar and then somehow shoots the guy dead 3 seconds later
I dont think anyone wants obvious video game-y mechanics like that but the show really did tone down the chaos to the point where the world is pretty boring
This whole segment in the game was so f***ing tense and dangerous and here it was just some random dude with a bat
pretty weak tbh. The final shot with him collapsing off the horse was good though.

i think there are different ways they could've done it, sure. i just dont understand the whole "we need more violence" crowd.
and yeah he was a random dude with a bat but technically all the raiders are random
Man, if this thread is this divisive for a universally loved storyline then imagine season 2 and 3
They made way too many dumb changes especially with dialogue and action so it feels worse and thats why people are divisive over it
General audiences seem to be loving it overall for the most part.
But yea this story is about Joel and Ellie, and all these events are what shape their relationship and influence their lives
Any reason why you won’t play the game?
In a bizarre way i feel like i need MORE time to connect to these people, which yal already have because you know the characters and whatnot... you're just revisiting them and they're new to me.
i haven't played games in a minute. i did drunkenly buy a ps5 about 2 months ago and i tried the game the day the show was airing.
i liked it but didn't love it. traditionally i was a shooter and 2k guy. these "movie" games, (also played a bit of ragnarok) are wild, lol. but frankly, i don't think i have the time to play it all.

Well because the game is violent, and the world they live and survive in is violent. It's a core part of the setting. It's why places like Jackson are an oasis cause everything else sucks so much ass.

a lot of the show is very quiet, sitting around campfires, walking through abandoned places. in a zombie apocalypse. where the humans are now allegedly worse than the monsters. you can't blame people for wanting a little action.
real question -- what's the reasoning behind humans going so apeshit? do they touch on that?

pt 2 is a lot more violent than part 1.
and again, depicting the more violent set pieces in part 1 is simply not something that is going to happen. depicting violence is a lot less interesting than depicting people and their reactions to their circumstances.
a show cannot just spend 7-8 minutes each episode on this old guy with bad knees and limited resources taking on raiders lol
The people I know who’ve never played the game are loving this so far. I’ve played the game once but do not remember the small details and changes that gets mentioned itt

I can, considering that it is not core to the themes of the show or game, and even then just logistically a lot of violence does not work in the show. you have a 14 year old girl and an old dude with bad knees.

Are you asking why there are so many bad people in the show ?
Loved how they handled this section of the game. Was worried they wouldn't have enough time left but now they have plenty of time with 3 episodes and what is remaining
I've seen people complain that they made Joel soft .. but he's a middle aged man, I know that didn't convey in the game cause you're running around and killing people but he's not supposed to be this war ready certified killer. Maybe in his past but not now

People are just a******s
The emotional moments are way better on the show than the game. But the comedic moments are better in the game. Pedro Pascal is killing it as Joel and this last episode is the best performance Bella Ramsey has had as Ellie yet

I’m not rocking with that statement at all lol. so now it’s okay for violence to be in the video game but not in a “real” show?
That last weak ass neck snap before mans got gutted by a baseball bat. I get it.

its easier to depict violence in a game when the characters can just tank bullets, craft med kits and find ammo everywhere lol
