Why?
I think Bella and Pedro are doing absolutely amazing as Joel and Ellie. They have their mannerisms down to a beat, and are acting their asses off.
The story for me, hits just as well in the show as it did in the game. They have taken characters and stories, expanded on them (well and even excellent matter of fact), and the few changes with the actual story (bill specifically) I thought have actually been BETTER than the games representation of bill.
For development of characters (I’m assuming you mean Ellie and Joel) I think they are progressing fine enough. There have been multiple skips now where we are supposed to fill in the gaps. They are finally feeling closer and bonding, telling jokes to eachother. And after 6 episodes together in a tv show format for me does not feel forced.
The action in this show is whatever and imo the worst part of the show but the haters eat that up whenever it comes up so whatever.
But overall as an Adaption, they are nailing the story, nailing the characters, nailing the theme, the relationships and if all for me.
This for me is the holy grail of video game adaptions and I’m so happy to see one done right
The story changes aren’t much of a bother to me and I’m enjoying Bella more with each episode. I do also think it’s prob the goat video game adaption but idk if my expectations set me up for failure or the critics.
The show is just good (most episodes)-occasionally great (episode 5) for me. I wish I loved it as much as I did the games or much as you like it. I appreciate the actual discussion rather than argument on the topic tho.
Idc that there isn’t much action I just felt the gradual loosening of their walls with eachother felt artificial to me in this medium but that’s me. Like I said the show isn't bad I just have to let go of the idea it’ll hit me like the game did

For me changes are just part of any adaptation really. That’s why I look at adaptions as another form to view content and not a replacement of what it’s adapting
this is real. This is why when people say "this is better than the game" I am like okay. Its different . Its a different telling. This has major changes that will change how the ending hits

Agreed yeah. We needed more of that. Claustrophobic danger and constantly being on their toes. Not necessarily constant death and gore.
