I am playing the game for the first time
AND just watched the pilot episode
of the series and I also don’t think this show is as glowing as people are saying.The game on the other hand is so f***ing addicting and awesome and fun and everything they ever said, but the show just feels a lil generic idk what it is
too bright, like wheres that DARK bleak vibe from TLOU game and Chernobyl
everything just seems too bright and TV showy & over produced idkk
I mean its because partially the game is trying to be cinematic and the show is more trying to be tv show like and not cinematic. The handy cam decision kind of wild to me based on the budget per episode and how much money is put into the set to use a handicam is F***ING BONKERS TO ME. But I guess it makes sense to others.
I can't narrow down the tv showy and over produced but I felt it early on and eventually let it go. Enjoy the game for the first time be sure you beat it before finale

Feb 20, 2023·2 repliesPlanktonAs far as lack of realism you have episode 3, in which there’s only one raider attack in 20 years, in which Bill stands in the MIDDLE OF THE STREET shooting at the raiders. Then you have the scene where Joel is showing Ellie how to use a gun, and Ellie points the gun at Joel and he does not correct her, no irl gun owner would do this. Thirdly, they live in a world where infected and murderous humans are possibly around anywhere you go, yet Ellie is running around screaming and fooling around in the underground tunnels.
As far as casting, Joel and Ellie are great, but a lot of the side characters are, uhhh… not the easiest to look at, which is fine I guess but really weird for a show with such high production values
