Huge ending spoilers this is a weird way of framing it imo. The ending will be divisive because Joel rid the world of a chance at fixing itself due to his own selfish love for someone. The reason it will be divisive, and has always been decisive, because it’s an extremely difficult moral question to tackle: would you sacrifice someone you love to make the world a better place. Some will say of course. Some will say, no, the world is fine.

The ending is divisive because Pedro Pascal is about to murder a bunch of terrorist and a unarmed doctor to save Ellie. The girl he has spent the whole show trying to get to the terrorist and unarmed doctor. Same as it was in the game. Its not about should Ellie die or some long monologue about fate and kids dying.
