i think the issue is that in a story where we show that we are each ones villain, abbie is made too nice, youre kinda put as the only villain

How is Abby too nice? I think you have preconceived notions of how a "villain" is supposed to act.

Playing as Abby right now and I’m sick to my stomach. I can’t wait to get back to Ellie already. Never despised a character so much

    get over it my g.

joel deserved it and Abby has the best parts in the game as far as action goes.

  • that being said, trauma p*** I dont even think wins Oscars anymore my g.

no i don’t: let’s not pretend they’re aren’t pulling ur strings with all the animals stuff and then the ending when you meet her again, the situation she’s in, it’s always in a pov where you’re guilty...

  • Jul 2, 2020

but i figured i would be taken as a hater so it’s fine

They also show you how she bashes joel with a golf cub and beats the s*** out of ellie and dina. But go on

Why are you getting so defensive, lol? Nobody in this thread even called you a hater.

You ever hear of the phrase "Every villain is a hero of his or her own story"? The whole point of the narrative outline and adding complexity and depth to Abby's character is to challenge the players emotions on the journey and to show that all things aren't in black and white. This game w/o Abby's humanity would be complete trash and a waste of time.

So for you she just had to be completely unlikable, not a single redeemable trait? Characters should be more complex than that. Her "likeable" traits are not much different than ellie's.

nah wasn’t talking about you, i could just see s*** coming with the likes of ppl not posting (that’s always coward when it’s an open debate) and then someone posting about what she does to joel despite that this is what starts the story and not what im talking about, it just comes off deaf and aggressive you know when im tryna have a debate with criticism over a trait of the storytelling

i know this is what the story is about, i just feel the outline jumps sides in its always on abbie being a victim once you switch to her... i think i would have more connections if it’s less thrown into me, and that if abbie showed vulnerability too? idk but i guess it makes sense, it’s the contrast that has to be underlined to make the point across, so fair enough

the whole story is to show that when you live your life with nothing but hate and revenge in mind you will lose everything.

Ellie and Abbie both lost the people they loved the most - Joel (essentially Ellie's father), Dina, Abbie's father, Owen etc.

if they had both accepted that s*** happens and you grow from it then Joel and Owen would still be alive and Ellie would probably still have a relationship with Dina.

I think her and Ellie are still together though.
At the end of the game you notice Ellie is actually wearing Dina's bracelet. The chapter before that in Santa Barbra she's seen not wearing it. plus I assume time has gone by since her return to the house she's seen wearing something different and has none of her weapons .idk just my thoughts could be wrong

I took the ending as Ellie returning to the farm to pick up where she left off with Dina only to find that Dina had left with her baby and most likely gone to live with Jessie's family. Dina left all of Ellie's possessions at the house for her to find and go wherever she pleases so Ellie leaves the farm as she has nothing to stay there for now.

Your interpretation makes for a happier ending though haha so I'll take that
