I kinda wanted a new IP from Naughty Dog tbh.

I want the series to be set in a different cou try entire new cast , maybe Thailand like the show had showed towards the beginning of the outbreak. A lot of potential there to explore different way of telling the story

My only objection to more ellie is that she was possibly the least interesting character in Part 2. Like I got tired of playing as her even in the end part. Regardless of what they do for her redemption arc I am good. She can be in it but she doesn't need to be playable. Last of Us been about humanity for me not just white girl jesus

People opposed to a trilogy for Last of Us when every IP they've made previous has had 3 games or more

I am for a trilogy . I am not for a playable Ellie for 20-30 hours unless they have her doing more than killing

New IP is super overrated imo

I think the issue here is the time gap and Last of Us 2 itself was overly long. Like we don't need to play as killer Ellie again for any reason. The nice part of doing an new ip than coming back for a sequel is often them learning something new to keep it fresh.

Last of Us 3 can't just be a refinement of what they accomplished in 2 's gameplay because 2 story wise also made a point that it would be redundant to just make killing more fun in a 3

GTA 5 - that s*** grew throughout the 10 years but at launch didn't have many of the elements of what made GTA dope

The issue isn't exactly with sequels itself so much as you can tell when a team is limited by creating the same world rather than exploring then coming back.

I have no issues with sequels. I’m just bummed because naughty dog used to have a new IP each generation and there hasn’t been a new IP from them for the ps4 and presumably the ps5
