20 hours in, just completed the 4th dungeon. This is hitting for me but I could see how some might prefer the traditional combat style of Link, personally though I love using Zelda’s powers, so it’s a 10 for me so far

I can see it as well, but its such a breath of fresh air to have a different combat system in a 2d Zelda, which up until now had really shallow combat tbh, wasnt its strong point
still havent copped, day 1 with new Switch tho
if DF saying this then i just cant spend the $80 CAD

It took some adjusting to but once you get comfortable, the strategy around echoes and timing the sword meter is so fun and satisfying to pull off. Every combat scenario feels puzzle like.
Great fairy at lake Hylia has important upgrades and important side quest when you walk out and return and open her chest

I exit some of these combat rooms in tears from laughter and stress. Chaotic experience
Is it just me or does it feel like playing pokemon when you find rare echoes or when you actually use them against enemies lol, very cool
Damn how many echoes are there?
I’ve only reached the first village but it feels like they are throwing a bunch of these things at us
Evil using good people to fight for them
Zelda using evil to fight on the side of good
Fight fire with fire
This is a really cozy game. Really damn good too. This is the kinda game that makes me wonder why Nintendo has taken so long to make a game like this with Zelda as the main character. It just makes so much sense, and there's still so much potential in this kinda gameplay style.
Now imagine if they brought back the dungeon maker feature that was in the Link's Awakening remake. Or if they just made a full out Zelda Maker game. So many great puzzle levels that could be made that make use of the Tri Rod. I just love the idea of being able to solve dungeons in so many different ways with the Tri Rod. The same way I felt about completing Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom by using the Ultrahand.
Anyway really fun game. Hope that it won't be a one and done, and we can see it in another Zelda led game, or if it can make its way into the 3D/open world Zelda games.
Only complaint I have is that I wish there was a way to better organize the echoes. There's so many to learn and use and scrolling through the menu for what you're looking for does tend to break up the pace a bit.

Feel like I'm kinda cheating myself whenever I use the sword for combat. I have much more fun finding ways to effectively use the rod and echoes for combat than the sword.
Is it a lil' cumbersome to switch between different echoes in that horizontal BotW/TotK-like item menu, for example in the heat of battle, or does it feel fine?

Your most recently used ones move to the beginning so it’s not too hectic

I think we’ll get our Dungeon Maker sooner than later because this game was born from them messing around with that idea again

Yea i found that Recently Used for quick select and pausing to go to the Notebook for specific lesser used echoes is quickest and most comfortable.
Plus it feels like classic zelda item mechanics that way lol
The only thing I’ve had a problem with so far is when I’m trying to build some stairs to get up. Like I was on top of my tree and put a table down in the wrong spot and it wasn’t letting me erase it cuz it was below me I guess. So I had to start it all over again. Targeting it didn’t do anything either

Not at all, Kinda feels like top down Pokémon Legends Arceus
