Idk. I think it’s more primal and instinctual. It’s ingrained for a female to seek a strong protector type as a mate, and height/size goes hand in hand wit that.

The attraction for big asses is relatively recent tho, at least on a mainstream level.

Sad thing is I've known people like this in real life. This one kid, according to him another 100k years of evolution and women would have all been Jayne Mansfield and every guy is Andre the Giant. Except that's bs cause 1) sexual selection is one of a number of selection pressures 2) there's a game theoretic balance between the strategies of the individuals of a species, it ain't just 'one strategy is best all the way'. 3) You don't know (and no one really knows) how sexual selection worked among early modern humans.
