the production is on par with GRODT, if not better. i would even go as far to say that it is a classic hip hop album.
discuss.
I agree. The narrative when it came out was, "It's not as good as GRODT."
Then the echo chamber made it seem like a mid project. He just had too much hype at the time, and anything would have been not as good as GRODT.
Album a solid 8.5/10 imo
9/10 if you catch me on the right day.
Def classic
I agree. It's a solid 8/10 album.
It gets underrated because of the singles but it's a decent project with strong replay value, especially with the album cuts like Ryder Music, God Gave Me Style, Ski Mask Way, etc.
And, heck, even the singles ain't all that bad besides Candy Shop. Just A Lil Bit and Disco Inferno are club smashes and Outta Control Remix is a legendary song.
Really, it's the fact that the 2nd worst song on the album after Gatman and Robbin became the lead single and got overplayed. That shaped peoples' perception of the album more than anything else.
It'd be like if "Drunk and Hot Girls" was the lead single on Graduation. It'd be criticized far more than it already has even with the same lineup.
it's definitely a great album
problem is he put out such a monumental one with grodt it got overshadowed in the scope of his discography
I don’t think it’s “criminally underrated”
It sold a million first week lol
And all the singles were huge
It just doesn’t get the same praise as GRODT
Only bad songs on this album was build you up and candy shop and so amazing everything else is f***ing hard
Position Of Power & Guns Come Out were dark horses for me. Didnt f*** wit em at first but they grew on me heavy.
