WTM Scoob & CoffeeBlack - Love at First Sight

Found it on a pitchfork rap albums of the year list. Alphonse describes it pretty well:
Ever since WTM Scoob ventured out on his own from World Tour Mafia—the young Detroit crew of playboys—he’s been tinkering with a misty, illusory spin on the casually hardened street rap of his hometown. Enter CoffeeBlack, a versatile producer based in the same city whose psychedelic sample flips on Love at First Sight? would have had the blog era on smash. The project is heavy on woozy tales of the erotic ups and emotional downs of falling hard, and the deadpan, adrift flows of Scoob and friends, like professional skirt-chaser Shaudy Kash, are like bumping Baby Smoove and Veeze with brain fog.

I deadass just had this same thought while listening lmao not even tryna hate but it’s like nigga just f***ing rap bro. These Pitchfork niggas love doing mental gymnastics to make this s*** sound like it’s the most innovative s*** they’ve ever heard when it’s just a nigga zooted out his f***ing brain in the studio rambling about nothing

eh instead of looking at it like this I’d credit scoob for choosing these beats. this producer has projects with other rappers and the beats are way more straightforward.

won’t argue on the rapping part if that’s what you’re looking for

I heard his oxycodone song, didnt know he was detroit

detroit/flint really got the entire underground rap scene on lock from drill to scam to this. best rap all decade is always coming from east michigan

wouldn’t consider doris’ rapping much of a step up from this lol

it really isn't like at all. Sounds like he's trolling at times, aint listening to 50 tracks of that.

Still love his art work tho (telefone cover goat)

p4k's "wink wink irony culture" type view of rap (of course they gave that s*** an 8.3) plays a big part into the further marginalization and decline of this genre. Don't quite get exactly what they're getting out of it other than clicks and "e-clout"

well, guess I just explained why lol.

Its like mumble acoustic rock to me. I randomly found it from someone twitter last summer/fall and it has gotten mad repeat plays from me when I smoke

But yeah I don’t know why its considered rap if thats what it is on Apple Music. All that type of music works better to me as its own separate new emerging genre and IMO people like skaiwater and doris lean more into that
