i think the idea of naming an album of the decade so far is kinda silly
covid impacted so many major music releases (usually the only kind of releases that get considered for this kinda thing) that to call any album the best of the decade just doesn't feel right
we got a slow, impeded year with 2020 and 21 wasn't much better tbh
i don't doubt the new abnormal will be loved by strokes fans and seen as a template for 2020's rock resurgence in the coming years. i just don't think it's safe to call anything the best of a decade that's just becoming defined.
the only artist that comes remotely close is yves tumor and their 2020 album "heaven to a tortured mind". their music genuinely feels above and beyond what anyone else is doing. the strokes is cool, but yves tumor has a genuine edge that a lot of rock acts have been missing.
also yves is bigger than just rock. between their collabs, their influences, their sound, yves in my opinion is shaping up to be the artist who will define the limitless creativity of music in the digital age.
but it's too early to really tell. their latest ep is very promising. but i just think we're not far enough into the 20's to make these grand kinda claims.
word i appreciate the answer. i didn't interpret it so seriously but i understand how you're looking at it

sadly i take everything too seriously
this is up there too. some s*** you can play for YEARS
2020 was such a lowkey great year for music.
2021 made it very clear
sadly i take everything too seriously
hahaha nah but you at least put some thought into the response i can dig it
obviously there's no way to tell this early what impact things will leave and how the rest of the decade will take shape
but it's fun to all throw out what we think is the best of the best up until now. yves is definitely up there
never
their artistic progression is unparalleled and what they're trying to achieve in their music and live persona is leagues ahead of everyone else rn
i don't see them becoming bigger than peak blood orange urban outfitters hype tho sadly
but if there's any hope for the music industry, yves will get the flowers they deserve and other's will follow with love
we'll see i hope they get bigger
their take on rock music is f***ing crazy, and that's just one of the genres that they cover
and the mf is a multi-instrumentalist too
I need more Yves and Ecco collabs though the few songs they have together are so forward thinking
maybe we should all drop our albums of every decade
let's really argue
thats like picking my favorite child
but for sure the 80s would either be Sign O' the Times or Remain in Light
