To be fair graphics aren't really the end all be all, Madden and 2K graphics improve every year yet the games keep getting worse

Doesn't change the fact that MLB The Show's graphics are at an unacceptable level of course. Wonder if it has to do with them making far less money than the other sports games

Yeah I don't really care as much about graphics if the gameplay is still good. I don't buy The Show every year but I usually don't have any complaints about the gameplay whenever I buy it

they simply don’t improve anything outside of a few things year after year so they can say “see! We worked on new features!”

meanwhile the offline modes of the game is still a complete joke

I haven’t bought it in a few years, I just can’t justify spending that amount of money for what is basically an annual roster update for MLB The Show 17

I don't even think the engine is that bad tbh. Performance wise, MLB The Show is the best sports game (low bar obviously)

The offline modes are absolute garbage though for sure. The silver lining I guess is that diamond dynasty isn't a cash grab like the other games' ultimate team modes

idk how you can say that DD isn’t a cash grab when they refuse to do anything meaningful with their offline modes. That’s literally forcing the player to play online

They all get worse year after year, but strictly speaking from a gameplay perspective MLB The Show generally stays the same and the hitting and pitching engines are solid

DD isn't a cash grab because you don't need to pay anything to compete like you do in Madden 2K and Fifa. It's a time grab but you can get every card in the game without spending a penny which just isn't the case in any of those other games. Forcing the player to play online != cash grab unless you're talking about the subscription service required to play any game online

I'm with you on the offline modes of course. They're awful and by far the worst of any sports game

If you're a strictly offline player there is no good modern sports game that exists
