Pete would’ve got a curtain call if he tied the game three innings earlier, or if he put them up to start the game. In part due to it being a milestone for him but also his return. Same way Mets fans did with Mike Piazza. If the Mets could’ve got a run in the inning before that home run wouldn’t have tied the game.. and it’s not like the Mets didn’t have their chances.
I’m sayin, the fans have supported the players on this current team plenty, one moment where everyone in the ballpark knew how Mets fans felt about Pete’s return doesn’t paint the full picture of the Mets fans, who’ve gotten back very little In return of our support over the years. Mets fans were chanting LGM loud right after that, is cheering for Pete really the blame for them finding another way to lose another baseball game? If they won the game the fans would’ve been cheering for them same way they were all game outside of 4 abs by Pete
