    Season 8 underrated, Robert California

  • Dec 29, 2019

Tbh if someone had cut the original Office after Michael left, and made a spin-off using just rest of the seasons most people would love it more

People don’t appreciate how great it was after Michael left cause he was the star, but after he left everyone else got a bigger role and produced some of the funniest tv moments ever

  • Dec 29, 2019

    Classic

Used to watch the office on my 3ds via Netflix back in middle school

Mom caught me one night past my bed time and got mad

    Parks is better

Falls off after Leslie Knope gets on the City Council.

(Yes, you can say the same after Michael Scott leaves but he was on there for 7 seasons )

    Season 8 underrated, Robert California

big agree. season 8 was an unavoidable step down without michael scott but it was a worthy continuation of the series and they actually did it really well. spader as CEO and andy as manager worked well. I think the producers/writers nailed that decision as well as they could have and the season overall is solid. some down moments sure but Robert added juice to the show with his weirdness, the erin/andy arc played out well and was looped in nicely with the tallahassee episodes, which btw were really good. people s*** on Nellie but she was funny in her szn 7 finale interview and funny again in talahassee. I think in szn 9 when they made her a regular office character, thats when they struggled to write for her. but how everything played out with the talahassee project team, erin staying there and andy going to get her, nellie taking his seat and then andy getting David Wallace to buy back the company.... i really have no qualms with any of it. i mean sure the opening explanation of Robert talking Jo Bennett out of the CEO role (only to then ruin her company which she cared about more than anything) made no sense. neither did Wallace getting $20 million for his suck it patent.... but who cares, it's a sitcom. the end result was good comedy in my opinion.

now szn 9... dont get me started. people who say szn 9 was a "return to form" are taking crazy pills. no chance szn 9 was better than szn 8. I guess they brought back Greg Daniels or something and tried to make it more like szn 1, by turning Andy into a d*** like Michael was at first, and it just did not work at all. Andy was great in szn 8, awful in szn 9. the Jim/Pam marriage problems were awful, Nellie as previously mentioned didn't fit in well, and the new guys were blah.

it boggles my mind that some ppl prefer 9 to 8. which is not to say 9 didnt have good moments too, especially for dwight.

but yea 8 is underrated for sure.

Agreed on every aspect, especially your criticisms of season 9. Wtf was Andy's whole American Idol character Arc & Pam becoming annoying AGAIN just to flip and take it all back in the finale Always wondered how Robert California & Michael would've been i'm scenes together

I just re-watched szn 8 btw which is why I'm so detailed about it, haha. and some people say szn 8 was too much of a rehash, and its fair because the erin/andy thing mirrored jim/pam a bunch, and then andy basically used the exact same michael scott paper company sales pitch when he stole the biggest client from DM. pretty unrealistic how he turned into a michael scott level salesman for that one moment when he was always the worst salesman. but these are minor qualms.

I'm in the middle of szn 9 on my rewatch now. I need to get to the american idol arc again but I feel like that was at least better than early szn 9 douchebag andy. the episode where he goes back and forth on quitting wasnt bad from what I recall, and the baby wawa stuff was funny. that ending for him wasnt bad IMO. kinda fitting in fact.

i know they had to write him out to film the hangover or whatever it was but I feel like they could have still had him and erin end up together. phasing out that relationship for Plop was pretty lame.

Pam szn 9 is the worst, what a disservice to her character not to have her support JIm when he was so supportive of her NY art school thing.

I love pam otherwise tho. I don't have any fault with her except in the final szn. she is a GOAT character who just caught some bad writing in the final stretch.

will ferrells character was the worst

it really was. and i hate how they brought him in when michael was leaving. at that period all the episodes should have been all about michael. specially the dundies should have been michael and the rest of the office only

they could have brought in will ferrel's character after michael left
