Guys, I'm gonna go deep into my theory of Act 2 and this is just my opinion. I'm nerding out and apologize.

I actually think someone told Jay Elect "No" on Act 2 and/or certain concepts for the album were not able to be completed because he couldn't put the features and concept together in a timely way that he idealized it in his head and it frustrated him. Maybe that "No" was to a lot of sample clearances.

He kinda has delusions of grandeur which I love. Its why historic speeches introduce him, etc.

Here is an example of him saying David Bowie sings on Act 2, David Bowie denying it, and Jay Elect deleting his tweet:

    nme.com/news/music/david-bowie-314-1285956

Reality was that "Run & Hide" has a David Bowie sample. Was the sample ever cleared? Could some of these samples just not be cleared? "Run and Hide" never appears on anything officially.

Serge Gainsbourg is on Act 2 in a few spots. Shiny Suit is on the new album. Why not have the full Shiny Suit on "A Written Testimony" with the Serge orchestra if you're going to include it after all this time?

On Act 2, there's a song called "Bonnie and Clyde" Feat. Serge Gainsbourg

    It likely samples this:

This backing track on this is Serge Gainsbourg "Valse De Melody." Was this not able to be cleared for "A Written Testimony"?

So now we know of 3 separate songs where Serge is supposed to appear but it just didn't come.

Did Kanye ever actually lay down verses on "New Illuminati" and "Rough Love" or was that Jay Elect projecting what he wanted to happen? "Road to Perdition" is not really a Hov feature. "Run and Hide" is not a David Bowie feature either. The time Ye and Jay Elect were documented to have collaborated was way after the Act 2 tracklist in London during "Cruel Summer" sessions. Pusha T and Frank Ocean were there too apparently.

    pitchfork.com/news/45138-frank-ocean-jay-electronica-pusha-t-on-kanye-wests-good-music-album

To me, something just went wrong with the original Act 2 but I think he believes in that album. Jay Elect does strike me as a stubborn ass dude when his vision was just not going to be able to be completed and he just sat on it. I can imagine it being disheartening man. I think he was Kanye level blending resources, samples, and production to make the original Act 2.

It's interesting too. The most pivotal moment of Jay Elect's career to me is when he released "Call of Duty" with Mobb Deep produced by Young Guru. This song was marketed and built up with a big drop. It has nothing to do with Act 2 and I never understood the reason for it. The build up for it in a small way reminded me of "A Written Testimony." Guru was tweeting it and updating everyone. They were making it into a moment and it seems like the song was made on the fly. Idk if that song was Jay Elect's idea is what I'm saying and it doesn't sound anything remotely like Act 2 material even though I like it for what it is. But idk I feel like things shifted after that in terms of his approach. Before that he had given us "The Announcement" (one of my favorite songs) and "Shiny Suit" a few weeks after.

Less than a year after that he shares the Act 2 tracklist. Why not release one of those songs instead of "Call of Duty"?

Then you get Better in Tune and Letter to Falon years later when the original Act 2 is dead. But I think that project was his baby and it probably hurt him that it couldn't be realized. Blaze said the original Falon song has a different beat.

Just an interesting tale that never will make total sense to me because no one candidly discusses what happened? I really love "A Written Testimony" and I am really happy he put it out and that he's getting love.

Yeah but the counter to this are people like Just Blaze saying he even now still has it on his phone. I think it’s done. However the sample clearance point definitely makes sense but this is Hov and Roc we’re talking about, i’m sure he would have little issue to be honest. I have no doubt those Ye and Puff tracks on Act 2 are real. I think Jay just was never really ready and he kinda said as much putting out better in tune in 2014

If one would open up truth, such as the truth of God to the people, I do think that He's within his rights to stay out of the sight of the people until He has won everything to Himself; as the Bible refers to it like this: He's something like a king looking for a kingdom. And that He goes and he visits the people, then He leaves the people, goes away and waits until the time when that He can secure the kingdom. Then He returns to the people that He had made Himself manifest to. So I think that's a pretty good answer

Also Jay himself kinda acknowledges it in a profound way on Ezekiel’s Wheel

Some ask me "Jay, man, why come for so many years you been exempt?"

'Cause familiarity don't breed gratitude, just contempt

And the price of sanity is too damn high, just like the rent

    Mm-mm-mm, mm-mm-mm, uh, uh

Sometimes I was held down by the gravity of my pen (Pen)

Sometimes I was held down by the gravity of my sin (Sin)

Sometimes, like Santiago, at crucial points of my novel

My only logical option was to transform into the wind

I def agree that confidence / perfectionism was a factor. But what caused the confidence drop? He was def confident when he dropped Jazzmatazz and the Announcement

Also idk if just Blaze’s act 2 is the same. Just Blaze was heavily involved in the Christmas Day version before roc nation was in the pic and said they’re waiting on a Nas feature if I remember correctly. Since roc nation, for whatever reason, he just doesn’t seem involved. It’s just all interesting to me man.

I definitely agree. Jay is just a mythical figure to me at this point. Seeing him live he was such a down to earth, hilarious, powerful person and in stories and s*** he’s literally all over the world doing insane s***. Maybe one day we’ll get a documentary about it

Blaze did tweet abt the album and recently even said he still had Act 2 on his phone a few days ago. Doesn’t seem to be bad blood at all

I hope Jay E feels the love from this project and is ready to get his career popping. This cat is way too lyrical and talented to only give us 1 project.
