I wish we could’ve gotten a jay verse over queens get the money beat. It’s so perfect for him
That's exactly what we got though.

Lmao i was waiting for this reply but as much as I looked into that I never found anything concrete other than it sounds exactly like a Jay verse with a lot of his cadences/flows. You def know more than me on this s*** tho was there anything kinda proving it?

I never found this post in full and yeah i think i believe this tbh. If it’s not the entire song it’s large parts of a lot of it, even the writer says the cadence is Jay’s. I didn’t even think about the tonal shift of the content of the album either. Dreamhampton tweet especially mkes me wonder how deep it goes

"This is my opening scripture - I've been preparing this album
My whole life, might be uncomfortable for most you listeners
Satan's bombarding me with propositions
But I decline, I started in the Bridge without a pot to piss in
I overcame all the opposition
My teachers told that I'd a broken mayne on a cot in prison
Cloaked in the finest drapes, not Bathing Apes
But we still filthy, Supreme Court say we still guilty
This is the Genesis, and I don't even see a worthy arch nemesis
I get loose like the Jena Six,
They put a noose on 'Pac now I'm defending Vick
And free that nigga T.I.P
I'd take the grave or a bid
Then let some dirty Klan members run up in my crib
And plant cracks on the man that's going to church
Plants packs on the man that's going to work
And build cases
Meanwhile they daddies and they brothers
Is recruiting all my brothers and cousins to fill bases
The nerve of y'all to call Escobar a racist
Nigga, nigga, nigga, nigga, nigga, nigga hatred"
album is still very good. all praise due to Hov for getting this over the finish line. having it be a joint album is f***in fine by me
I've been wondering if in a decade Jay'll look back on his debut album and consider the whole thing poorly thought out — he was recording just 3 months after his mother passed. It probably brought out a different him on this album tbh. I think that's worth considering.
Listening to that Detroit demo, last line of that I'm a Bad Boy track... "I'm big pimpin' like Jiggaman"
Too prophetic
I just saw @Goo mentionning me in a thread regarding Rick Ross being a better rapper than Kanye West. The thread got locked but I wanted to react to something so I'm doing it here.
@Delejayn
Jay wrote Queens Get The Money.
On the real tho, people gotta understand having a writer doesn't mean you can't write your own rhymes.
Sometimes the guy next to you just pens something better on a particular topic and you'll pick his rhymes instead.
That's just craftmanship.

Do you have proof of this because I already got a “hell no” response on the Rick Ross statement from this morning.

Being there when they did it.

Where can I hear the demo?

I used to play it from time to time when we did Tinychat sessions back in the days.
I might do that again.
For real, I don't think i've encountered something this controversial since Guru's potential love relationship with Solar.

Once I hear it I’m sold. I have no problem believing proof. But this morning when I looked into the free mason allegation the person laughed at me and said “hell no”

I can't stress this enough, and that's not something I say specifically to you, but it's perfectly fine if a rapper doesn't write 100% of his rhymes. And it's even ok for a rapper to get a writer.
Nas proved and he'll prove it again: he can write his stuff.
It's an internet thing. Talking about this. And somehow it's ok, cause it's stimulating a culture. It's part of the many things that make the hip hop culture alive.
But usually, these discussions never pass the studio doorsteps.

It’s totally ok for a rapper to have a writer, you just can’t compare yourself to a rapper that has never had one, is all I’m saying. And there is a difference between crediting someone for writing and not crediting and pretending like what is said is purely from you.
And the person I asked this morning is a dj at hot 97 and has shown me proof of “left behind studio doors” stuff before. So whenever I ask him someone he usually says he doesn’t know about that or he tells me what he knows. This morning I said
“Aye do you know anything w out jay Electronica writing for Rick Ross on Free Masons”.
He replied “imma get back to you”
Then an hour later he said “lol hell nah”.
Then he said that rick Ross re wrote his verse when Hov sent back his to fit the theme a little better.

I really appreciate the commentary that you provide us from time to time, thanks man.
Reach.
Don’t think so actually. Rothschild reference and a double entendre given their relationship.
Racy line esp with next in mind but a godly flex on the first track of a debut with Hov
