Giving my flowers to what I’d describe as the most under-appreciated and least discussed project of his, Overly Dedicated. Revisiting this tape as I often do now and then, it’s truly a beautiful showing of the roots that have grown into who he is as an artist today. Of course he has improved in virtually area of his craft, but the imperfections and the flashes of greatness laced all over this mixtape is what makes it so endearing to me. I often find myself listening to the earlier projects of our GOATs for inspiration, because it really lends itself to those who didn’t quite have it yet, but knew they were destined for greatness.
How does this hold up for you all? Am I the only one crazy enough to say I may prefer it over some of his other projects due to how raw and hungry he sounds?
ignorance is bliss showcases the best rapping of his career and ima die on this hill

Are all top tier Kendrick records
Great mixtape.
One of the things I never understood is why Willy b stopped producing for Kendrick. He was a big reason for the sound of this record.

The ambiance this tape presents is so moody and airy I’d love for a modern take on this by him

Me too. I wish his circle would have these convos with him. I wonder if he is aware that we miss this part of his music?

Kendrick has more than proven his ability to put together a great album with a clear vision. I yearn for him to say f*** it imma drop a mixtape (semantics atp) where he just gets some fly beats and just bars out. That would really be perfect for me

That's the part of his career I wish to have him experiment more in. Because he talks about polarizing topics, albeit surface level for many of them, but having a series of tapes to black out on that could explain the brand more would be great as a consumer
Because he talking bout the side of his family idc bout. I'm tryna hear about Keem, the homies, and his uncles
My favorite Kendrick Lamar album. Play this top to bottom almost every single day.
When you really listen, Mr. Morale is a perfect follow up to the message of this specific album. Tried to explain to my boy that this is truly Kendrick’s most personal album cause there is no overarching concept he has to keep carrying and the stories he’s telling are very direct, “every day life music”
Wish we could get another album like this. The sounds, the messaging, the direction, the love story, the back and forth he goes in his emotions on each song. A personal classic, perfect for literally any setting. Play this out loud and no one will complain. Perfect for a kickback, walk outside, gym, smoke session, sunrise, sunset, you name it.
I’m glad this s*** slept on tbh, truly one of the best Kendrick Lamar albums. “Cause it is an album, and probably his best” - Ali
the mixtape that put me on to kendrick back in 2010 from 2dopeboyz i randomly heard p&p 2 with ab soul on my way home from school and told my older brother about it.
Back when niggas was releasing entire albums as mixtapes. 2008-2013 was such a great time for hiphop
