I know people say they hear Jigga, Wayne or Kanye when listening to Aubrey and I get that but I think Common is a must bigger influence on Drake than all these niggas. Like when I listen to Common all I hear is Drake, maybe it's the way they articulate words it's very similar.

imo it's Hov and it always has been. He's said many times he shaped his skill set based on Jay. I've never really felt the Ye influence outside of So Far Gone and maybe a few pop songs. I think 40 was probably been more inspired by Ye but hey, maybe it's just me. Other influences would be Wayne, Phonte, Budden and I could see a little Common. Then obviously Aaliyah and Sade for the singing. Dude is like Voltron

Saw something on IG about LL Cool J talking about how people compare him to Drake

If Drake had his dad speak wisdom at the end of the album like Common used to with his pops

  • There is some influence there

  • It's clearly a mix of Joe Budden / Jay Z / Kanye West / Lil Wayne.

Kanye for the artistry, the blending of singing and rapping, the subject matter to a degree,

Jay Z for the rap cache, bars, technicality and aesthetic (partially)

Lil Wayne for the subject matter, the blending of rap and singing, and how to really make pop rap music. You hear it in the early 2010's with the cleverly stupid lines that weren't even a part of Drake's raps until he got YM'd out and started saying s*** like "Wayne if you're on mars can you pick me up on jupiterrrrr"

and Joe Budden for the rhyme schemes, subject matter, etc.

I think by now though, those influences are there more from an iconography and career aesthetic standpoint. He kind of has fused all of the aforementioned influences and become his own lane.

I think the biggest influence on Drake's raps recently however has been Notorious BIG and idk about y'all, but I hear it so much in Drake from 2018 till now.
