Shout out to all the f*** niggas on KTT who tried to use Bolivia as a talking point for bashing socialism

Shout out to the US for such a tasty L. They tried to do everything in their power to once again take democracy away from the people the news corporations that you idiots label as “leftist” did everything to make Evo Morales seem authoritarian. How many times did they tell us that the people of Bolivia were fed up 😂😂😂

Fascist white coloniser thought she could strong arm the people.

    Are you Bolivian

I've spent a month traveling through many cities in Bolivia and interact with Bolivians every week, you? I saw firsthand the extreme poverty and heard many times how polarizing and controversial Morales and his government were

f*** the coup and f*** the US for meddling in every country in South America. glad Bolivia had democratic elections and got rid of that s*** but don't act like Morales wasn't corrupt as hell and Bolivia isn't the 2nd poorest country in South America

my bad if I came across aggressive in my reply. just get annoyed when I think people argue for their political agendas by using countries they've never been to and have no idea what those countries are really like

totally agree with you on the coup. so many reasons for why SA is f***ed up is US meddling, but corrupt governments, both capitalist and socialist, deserve a lot of blame as well

sure, I'll play. this ktt tho so socialist = hero and y'all are just gonna say this is American propaganda because, like most cases of corruption in SA, there's more allegations than proof. for that reason I linked almost all of my sources to a socialist newspaper based in Argentina

let's start with his own reluctance to give up power and ignore the people and constitution:

2009 he passed a law allowing 2 consecutive terms and was reelected. 2016 he proposed dropping term limits as a referendum, put it to a democratic vote, and lost so in 2017 he scrapped that referendum, going against the will of the people and setting himself up for reelection again

Morales' ex-wife got a huge bribe from a Chinese company for rewarding contracts for 6-7 industrial plants worth $450 million dollars

    source: laizquierdadiario.com/Bolivia-escandalo-de-corrupcion-salpica-a-Evo-a-dias-del-referendum

multiple cases of money laundering by the Morales administration came to light in 2019

    source: infobae.com/america/america-latina/2019/12/22/bolivia-se-suman-denuncias-por-corrupcion-fraude-y-malos-manejos-de-empresas-publicas-durante-los-anos-de-evo-morales

in 2019 Morales authorized the burning of large acreage of private and community owned forests, benefitting the agro industry and mostly Chinese companies while hurting and displacing small farmers and indigenous communities

    source: laizquierdadiario.com/Evo-Morales-y-el-agronegocio-estan-detras-de-los-incendios-en-la-Amazonia-boliviana

I'll leave you with this quote by Bolivian communist writer Javo Ferreira:

“The repression of leaders, the prosecution of hundreds of mining workers and the co-optation and corruption of high levels of the mining, manufacturing and oil union bureaucracy, contributed to distancing important sectors of base workers from the Mas (Morales' party) and fueling hatred and resentment of a government that despite speaking on behalf of the social movements, did not hesitate to repress and persecute all forms of criticism or political opposition ”.

again, not saying Morales was all bad. he did a lot of good for the country and pulled them out of even worse poverty. but he's not somebody that should be held up as a socialist idol. y'all are doing the same thing you complain about liberals doing with Obama where you fall for the image and ignore the policies

Not saying Morales is perfect though. People have had enough of and South America has been a victim of US meddling for the last century.

The worst part is how they tried to suppress indigenous Bolivians once the coup took place.

The biggest thing we have to take from this is how the propaganda machine went into overdrive in the west and showed just how they’ve been able to get away with things like the Iraq war.

It showed only the illusion of democracy. Even the so called leftist Guardian tried to do its part in spreading so much propaganda. There’s no variety in the west and yet everyone believes all media is left leaning.

Not trying to speak for Bolivians at all but the premise of my post was that the people won against western media.
