To be fair, they were right about the 2018 midterms though. It is very possible that Trump is just an unpollable candidate. Also possible that Trump did benefit from any negative perceptions of the BLM protests a few months back.

partly true for sure but the down ballot races they screwed up with no good reason like OP noted, there is no excuses for the Susan collins debacle they were off 14 points thats insane

Yeah it’s really hard to contextualize and i guess we’ll truly never know. With regards to silent/shy Trump voters that voted for him this election, I’m curious as to whether they always supported him or if there was a certain tipping point that led them to supporting him.
