I think the fact Thom's wife and son disagree with Jonny (as well as several of their RH and Smile collaborators/bandmates) seems to indicate that Thom's silence since 2017 isn't a confirmation of what you're thinking it is.

When Thom got asked back in 2017 why they were doing a show in Tel Aviv, he seemed more upset about the "tone" of how the concerns were relayed to him than what was being said but that's just how I saw it

I definitely agree that his response sucked ass, but I also think a lot of public perception has changed in the last few years regarding the situation and even BDS to an extent. (Doesn't mean it wasn't that way back then too, just saying the wave of sentiments has rightfully and thankfully changed).

Ed O'Brien recently at a talk criticized Israel's occupation and said the band was right to get flack for playing in Tel Aviv in 2017. He also said that sentiments in their direct non-RH/Israeli friends / circles either changed or were revealed to not be as peaceful as they thought post-Oct7.

The drummer of the Smile is performing a Gaza charity gig like....this weekend? And their producer is pretty clearly pro-Palestine as well, so it's not like Jonny's propagandizing to people.

I'm just saying treating Thom like a fullblown Zionist when we've got TONS of that in media/music just feels like a waste of space. The guy's a huge political artist obviously, but if he decides to sit this one thing out in terms of speaking out due to his closeness to the situation/his friend's family, I think he should be able to do that without everyone assuming the worst imo.
