I’m relistening to bizarre ride II and I’m not seeing it with the pharcyde

Bone thugs is a better argument

definitely if we're talking today's era but Pharcyde we talking 1992 my g, they were on some s*** melodically for that time, that's why I mention them as important, some of their flows were ahead of their time imo

The reason I can't argue with this is

Miseducation was the first huge example of someone singing their ass off and rapping their ass off equally

SFG showed rappers this decade they could sing fr and still be seen as cool. Also that they didn't need to rely on female pop singers to sing their hooks

Their debut is one of the best albums to get new generations into 90s rap

There's no harmony in the vocals they're just rapping. The hook on passing me by is a melody but not the verses

Rapping on Otha Fish is pretty sing-song for its time

I gotta go back and listen to miseducation, I always felt that was an r&b album with her just rapping on a few tracks though..which I feel is different

As for so far gone that nigga drake wasn’t talking that gangsta and motivational s*** like nelly was and the rappers of today are..gotta go back and relisten

Yeah the way these niggas were flowing in 1992 is

Bizarre ride ii is dope as f***, pharcyde are dumb underrated

Singing in Hip Hop goes back further than The Pharcyde
Slick Rick was kind of singing rapping in 88
    Krs-One too
And I'm sure theres other examples I'm forgetting

But Bone Thugs were the first ones who were very musical with it and their influence is still felt today

I mean none of the albums listed here really have melodies like that. The first rappers to really talk that street sht and use melodies were like wayne, future, lil durk, and kevin gates but im sure you are looking for something earlier but I don't think it's possible to really see. Bone thugs might be but no1 from this generation really checked for them like that
