He didn’t even say both sides were “equal” or “equally bad,” just that both sides were both annoying to someone who doesn’t care. Which you should find gratifying tbh

    Thank you

Yeah we all know the working class and underclass are known for their high level of investment in political activity while the rich famously have no opinions on politics

Facts. You can be dead broke and not be political. A lot are.

my two posts weren’t necessarily tied to each other, gaba.

I’m just saying the privileged (of any intersection) don’t have a monopoly on finding politics uninteresting, boring, or irrelevant, and indeed revealed preference shows that those who maybe would most benefit from certain politics don’t always see it as sufficient incentive to care

Indeed the question could be subjective — imagine the scion of a billionaire who grew up privileged beyond words proclaiming that (in his mind) the poor are fortunate compared to him, as he will be soaked for nine or ten figures if the democrats get rid of the filibuster while they will be living $10/hour paycheck to paycheck either way

Additionally some people (I count myself, not trying to be an unhealed physician) are able to care about politics in a focused way because of their material and physical security (while said $10/hour paycheck to paycheck liver hasn’t thought about politics for more than 30 seconds in two decades)

Sometimes ppl are smug and sheltered when they don’t care abt politics but sometimes ppl just find life already conflict-filled, angst-inducing and depressing enough without an additional focus on stressful things they don’t feel like they can control anyway

I of course do see politics as important but I also try to keep the Serenity Prayer in mind when my blood pressure gets too high and understand why people just want to focus on gardening, or at least have a space where they can focus on gardening away from political talk

I try to keep up but politics are just so trash

Just a bunch of populists saying their false discourse made up of what people want to hear. So obvious they arent geniune. Also i hate how a lot of the time what they try to do is to throw s*** to other parties instead of saying the good from them.

Also hate how is has to be either left or right, we would benefit so much if we tried to get the better of both sides

  • You should care about politics to an extent but letting it consume your life is incredible unhealthy
