I know Illadelph Halflife & Things Fall Apart are probably my top 2 but the rest always changes

Do You Want More is always such a vibe to sit through, it’s one long groovy sesh and My Mellow My Man is one of my most played Roots joints

Undun is an amazing concept album pulled off well, incredible content but kind of hard to penetrate (pause) at times. One I really have to sit for to appreciate it fully

The Tipping Point is very underrated imo, especially the first half has bangers on bangers. More commercial but very fun

How I Got Over is Black Thought, a veteran by now maturing his lyrics and also delivering a hiphop record that is really pop while still being artsy at the same time and it works

And the way Black Thought raps all throughout Game Theory is just… wow.. goat s***

There’s more albums, and I’m tryna hear y’all thoughts on their albums tho

I just need more. There’s no way they’re retiring with f***ing undun

They did another album after.. but it’s probably their weakest

Then we really love the opposite soundscapes of the Roots tbh

It’s both a jab at Lyor Cohen bc of their contract dispute at the time, a double entendre in the song itself and might be one of the first mumble rap too

I know it’s a cliché but Things Fall Apart is still my fav Roots record

But Illadelph Halflife is that as well and that’s still my #1

Yep ha. I know it’s crazy because I know their earlier albums are “better”, but that one always clicked the most for me

I mean their discog is so versatile and consistent it’s all valid

Also I really love the title track
