Only idiots lol. She did half of drakes streaming. Real ones don’t count vinyl variants and signed cd’s

“Real ones don’t count actual sales made with real-world dollars”

If y’all were actual artists that made a living off of music I promise you, you would value pure sales over streams every single day of the week that ends in Y

  • Can’t even call Olivia a bundle merchant either. She has arguably the biggest album of the 2020s, numerous hit songs while only being three albums deep, and her global world tour for her new album completely sold out a month before the album even released

To be fair he tried and failed so it makes sense he values someone else’s streams so strongly

    Why though?

Because you're making more of a living off the thing you do for a living rather than getting less than a penny every time someone listens to your album?

    🤠

    It's a jam

  • If you're an indie artist and just released a 20-song album, one person would would have to listen to it from start-to-finish about seventeen times for you to make $1 on Spotify (20 streams x $0.003 = $0.06 / $1 ÷ $0.06 = 16.67)

Whereas if you're an indie artist getting some buzz and you drop a limited release of CDs and vinyl, each singular purchase is at least $10 straight into your pocket

Isn't this more of an independent artist vs label artist argument than it is a stream vs sale argument?

No, it’s a basic principle. Even the biggest artists at the biggest labels are only getting $0.005 per stream at most
