What choosing Texas is making me realize is that as long as you have a song that will get played in middle America bars you’re guaranteed the top spot for almost a full year

    Alcoholism bigger than ever baby

Ordinary being #4 and #3 on the global and U.S. 2026 lists - despite blowing up in early 2025 - is impressive as hell. It makes it look like the true #1 overall

    And I hate that song

  • Future is about to have 12 number one albums

He's such an iconic artist, damn. Now he'll be fourth ALL TIME ALL GENRES.

  • Childhood

i see what you’re saying but i think the genre was already on a commercial downturn and a lot of ppl thought the return of drake would be a reversal of that as a whole

It can go either way at this point. We'll have to see how someone like Molly Santana does going forward or another artist that didn't pick a side against Drake. Hip-hop may or may not be on a decline but the Drake stimulus still has some power to put smaller acts on within the genre and plant seeds for future upward momentum

You can't put the entire genre on one persons back like that?

From 16-24 Drake was undisputed in sales and relevance - was the biggest mainstream rapper by quite a distance.

24-25 Kendrick was briefly handed it after a whole new level of exposure and he did nothing with it, the feautres never popped, the album went bar Luther and the features on GNX all flopped. Even Drake flopped in 25 with $$$4U

Drake came back in 26 and re-cemented himself where he was supposed to be and is riding his own wave. Usually you'd get a few Drake features a year that pop (Wait 4 U etc) but he isn't doing that anymore.

So if you want to blame someone for essentially ruining everyone else's relevance its 'the boogeyman'

also like it reversed for Drake

he did his thing, he's not responsible for the whole genre since a vulture right?

You guys always conveniently ignore the fact that this commercial decline in mainstream rap started in 2023. This is not a recent turn whatsoever

Drake himself has risen since FATD though in terms of solo albums?

I mean technically not really, he dropped three solo albums after FATD and only one of them was commercially successful

His back catalog is still strong sure, but that has nothing to do with the commercial performance of new music

I mean if anything MOH and Habiti diluted the attention from Iceman and it still performed well

U can't expect all three (different sounds etc) to do equally as well on release date?

    Wait till his next one
