It's not a measure of quality, it's a measure of commercial appeal
I think ICEMAN blows CLB out of the water, but I'm solely talking about the commercial-ness of the two albums in how they're constructed
What 4 songs do you think have the biggest hit potential on here?
In 3 years I predict
Janice STFU 1b+
National Treasures 600m+
Plot Twist 500m+
2 Hard 4 The Radio 500m+
drake's audience historically does not f*** with features much

The biggest songs on his past three solo albums (before this year) all have features
Fair Trade
Knife Talk
Way 2 Sexy
Girls Want Girls
Jimmy Cooks
Rich Baby Daddy
First Person Shooter
IDGAF
Plus Laugh Now Cry Later, Rich Flex, Wants and Needs, and Chicago Freestyle
I think his only solo hits in the 2020s are Toosie Slide and NOKIA
His fanbase has definitely gravitated towards features in the 2020s

What’s Next too in that list but yea
Ngl it is funny that some people here thought the $$$ numbers were indicative of the Iceman numbers. Just obviously a silly premise lol
Drake being arguably bigger now post beef is hilarious tho
i think he was on the verge of fading out after FATD but the beef gave him more spite to run on.

Kendrick saved that bums career!

Yeah as "rap Drake" fan I disliked FATD and felt like he was running out of stuff to talk about on the rap tracks, songs like Amen and Calling for You felt like Late Stage Kanye phoning it in s*** to me
Pushups/FM/100 gigs made me a much bigger fan and Iceman feels like return to form, quality of rap songs is like night and day
It’s interesting how public perception is that he does crossover/non-rap stuff for commercial reasons (makes sense intuitively - “going pop” is a thing rappers do lol) but the non rap stuff has way weaker reception. Especially slow r&b stuff
People keep trying to push this narrative that Drake rap music doesnt sell. This just another nail in the coffin for that narrative.
Starts dissing Kendrick and his numbers go up
everyone wants to tune in to see the one at the top fail. If he wasn’t dissing we wouldn’t be listening
So Drake's also proven he could do 1m fw. He just needs like 250k in physicals and 40 songs. That would be very easy to do
"only like 100 songs"

Huh?
Drake's rap music does sell... but it's usually his pop rap stuff

Started From the Bottom
God's Plan

Toosie Slide
Laugh Now Cry Later

etc. etc.
These are all pop rap records

Isn't half of ICEMAN pop rap?
I don't comprende ngl
the only songs with mad streams on CLB are rap songs. all the deep cuts did trash, even songs like Race My Mind which to me is a ridiculously good song is "only" at 174m vs a very average rap song No Friends In the Industry with 286m
even fountains with tems is "only" at 242m
this'll demolish CLB's longterm performance i reckon
i dont see it beating CLB tbh. beat switches and a lot of the songs dont have hit potential imo.
Isn't half of ICEMAN pop rap?
I wouldn't categorize it as that, that's why I'm wondering how well it does longterm
To me, the project it most reminds me of is IYRTITL, and that's one of his least popular projects overall

i think thats the gp more than his fanbase

Yes but the GP is what determines the hits

Janice STFU
Dust
Shabang
Make Them Pay is kinda melodic
Burning Bridges
2 Hard 4 The Radio
Make Them Remember also melodic
Little Birdie
Don't Worry
I don't know man
This is based off of first day numbers and very likely to change based off of holds
I think people are overpredicting Make Them Cry based on the first day, I don't see that song holding that strong over the week, it's too lyrical
