It's tough but to me all the different line ups of James Brown, they had classic moments in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

but i guess it doesn't really count, so probably the Stones. If i'm trying to consider all the things a great band is meant to be. i agree with people who say The Beatles, but idk if they have the live legacy to back that up.

obviously Parliament Funkadelic, public enemy, outkast, prince (again doesn't really count) up there too. there's same jazz bands i'd put up there too, like the ones Mingus put together.

there's probably some i'm forgetting. wish i had cooler picks, but a lot of those cool bands only have like 2 and a half good albums who you got?

What love the most about the queen is dead and Morrisey in general is how he writes with such a light pen that he evokes the emotions he’s feeling feeling so subtlety

i mean i agree that from an objective standpoint there are probably bands that are better / more influential etc. than the smiths

the beatles and the stones def, also pink floyd, the velvet underground and bands like the cure, joy divison and radiohead are at least on par with the smiths

the smiths are my personal favorite tho
