Of course many saints of Newark isn’t on HBO max anymore
Worth a buy?
I'd say rent it, I liked it alot but just like the new matrix it's quite divisive, many HATE it

Do you not torrent?
There's one particular Melfi scene I wish I skipped tbh
The rape scene?
The rape scene?
Was so f***ing pointless an thrown in for no reason
She didnt even pursue anything after and idc if it “showed something abt her character”
Exploitative bs

Wasn’t the point was to show that Melfi was so intrigued in Tony’s criminal mind to the point that she pondered asking him to kill her rapist but eventually didn’t.

Something like that
But was it really relevant to the story? Tbh they do her dirty alot
I really wish Dr. Melfi would’ve told Tony about the guy who abused her. That scene was super disturbing and I would’ve loved to see what Tony would do to that guy
That’s a moment that takes this show to the next level (the literal goat level) IMO. God it’s so f***ed how she gets raped and you the viewer want her to tell Tony so badly but the way the episode ends with her not telling him is like her being the exact counter point of Tony, not indulging in revenge and more violence even in a moment when we all feel like it’s absolutely justified and she SHOULD tell him

See my above post for why I completely disagree with you. It led to one of the best moments of the show IMO

This show has lots of plot but it is above all a character study. Melfi is one of the main characters. So yes it’s very relevant IMO. I mean she is more than just a plot function to show us more about Tony. I love the scenes with her family and with her getting therapy. I think fleshing her out instead of having her just be Tony’s shrink is so good. I love Melfi

Dude yes. Man I miss you bud

yes. Easily could've had Tony take care of it when she saw the employee of the month flyer

Nah it showed she coulda had him killed effortlessly and gone down the Tony rabbit hole but didnt even in a situation where it seems justified
It's the furthest thing from gratuitous

I liked it but it was definitely not on the level of the show so if you just finished the show for the first time and you’re on that high it would probably be a let down. It was like a middle of the pack, solid gangster film with sopranos characters

True
Tho tbf no sopranos movie could really capture the vibe of the show cuz the show takes its time with every scene and character, while a movie is shorter than 2 episodes
Melfi not telling Tony is easily the second most memorable cut to credits moment in the show. I love that s*** honestly. Chase is next level with his writing. It’s kinda like comedy, in the sense that good comedy is supposed to subvert your expectations and deliver something you didn’t see coming. Her saying no and cutting to credits, hoo boy that is not what I expected to happen or wanted to happen but then you think about it as the credits roll and you’re like f***…. What a moment. Like you didn’t even fully realize this episode and this closing scene was completely ABOUT melfi not even about Tony until that happens. You think it’s going to be about how Tony handles it for her after the justice system fails her a la Godfather 1 opening scene, not about how SHE handles it. It flips The Godfather on its head.

Everyone thought it was gonna lead to some major revenge and possibly the 2 hooking up. But she chose to stay in her lane and avoid the temptation of Tony and his lifestyle

Her role in the story isnt to execute crimes and its abt her helping tony through his own s*** anyway
Its completely forced and unprofessional that a therapist would even beg to take back a client like him
Ik its a tv show but her whole character is made a fool
And yeah its gratitutious u dont have to see her get raped for 10 mins

No it's not what show were you watching
Tony was basically using her to use her advice in his criminal life and she found out too late
