Had he stuck around as backup, there’s no question that the Boston media would bring it up every week that Bill should consider benching Mac and starting Cam. By cutting Cam, all they can do now is criticize Mac when he messes up, but there’s no legitimate 2nd option behind him to point to.

This might be the most excited I’ve ever been for an opening day game tbh

Also, want to say that my biggest question entering the season is what will Josh/Bill do when the running game hits a brick wall against a team with good rushing defense.

Last season it seemed like they were super stubborn at times, and even if the rushing game wasn’t working, they didn’t have any trust in the passing game and just kept running it. Curious if that will happen again, or if they will give Mac a longer leash.
