I don’t find it to be hit and miss at all. I’ve never had problems doing manuals to keep my combos alive. I truly think your timing is just off.

THUG1 is the greatest skating game ever. The open world titles were truly a treat.

I keep having an insanely good first heat on Roswell and then choking

Again on a competition level I just got double my previous high score but got rated in the 80s when I was previously rated in the 90s

It must do it relative to the competitors run totals but you can’t even see what # of points they land you can only see judges scores.

I just posted my 3 highest scores ever on this map- all 89!

But before that I had previously gotten in the 90s multiple times with lower scores.

So heart pounding man!

First run was the best judge score I ever got but was also the first time I ever saw a CPU get a 96 (it’s usually 94.5 and below). I was so hyped on my run and thought “no way do I lose this” and then along cane the 96 and I’m like now I have to actually try. 2nd run I post multiple super high scoring combos but literally bail them all. 3rd Heat I knew I did well but I wasn’t sure how my score would compare to the 96/94 of Leo Baker and by the Skin of my teeth and I got first! <0.10 difference between us!

Just 3 more goals until I beat THPS. Two of them I know how to do, just gotta get the execution down.

1 of them I know where the secret tape is but have no idea how to get up to it

Edit: Figured out how to get up there but my character doesn’t get enough speed/air to make it. Gonna have to keep practicing timing maybe.

Edit 2: maxed out air, speed, oil, and hangtime and still can’t get enough distance to make it.

Aight, just one more goal until THPS1 but my character hates me so idk when that will be. Unfortunately have to leave right now so I can’t grind it out. It’s Secret tape in SanFran I need. I know exactly where it is and I think I know how you get to it but my character never even comes close to jumping high enough of far enough even with maxed out stats in the 4 categories that help.

You don’t even have to do a revert before you manual. I rarely do a revert. It’s super easy to manual after flips, grinds, and grabs. You just need to learn the timing.
