Idk if it has been said but its weird because

white rap fans make up a large percentage of the rap economy now, they're getting black artists paid, generally, so, is that bad if they're getting (quality) artists paid, buying their albums, merch, tickets?

    I don't think so,

but hip-hop is so important and can be so directly essential to expressing experiences that i personally wouldn't want anyone to take it lightly,

thats just me being music-obsessed though, I don't want to be like: "If you listen to music you gotta know everything about every artist and the history" nah,

I just think hip-hop shouldn't be brushed off as just popular radio songs for people to have their fun at the club

The problem is that "real hip hop" fans wont listen to a song by Younboy about his depression but will nut expeditiously when NF or G eazy rap about being sad sometimes

    1. If you from Africa, you're African
    2. Yeah, thats hella insulting.

Thank you for your response, it is a shame there is a segregation within the continent, even somalis and ethiopians and west africans have infighting because they are slightly different genetically, which is complete bs, the more infighting and segregation, the further away we will be from prospering.
And of course the same goes for african americans and africans

problem with Africans is that they unironically believe in the american dream. Didn't take me long to realize it was bs.

I got an aunt that did for decades, only recently have her views on America changed

My mom says she became black again

    Nah, that's a ignorant portion
Many Africans welcome back African Americans to the motherland or want better for y'all over here
There are cultural barriers as they often are immigrants and don't agree with some of the western practices (dress, music, behavior etc) + some only know what the media portrayed y'all as but are definitely aware of how effed up the us is towards y'all (unless they coons)

oof i try to ignore anything remotely related to g eazy

but yeah: I think it's dumb especially when a lot of the new guys are more talented than some of the older rappers, like they sometimes have better wordplay, rhythm cadence whatever...

people just get overly nostalgic about the old days

That Europeans have been enslaved doesn't mean there isn't any racism going on today in Europe lol cause there's plenty. It's just more towards muslims/middle eastern people at least the part of Europe where i'm from

I'm aware of that, of course there are also racist ppl in EU like there are racist ppl everywhere

Again the post was probably about white people in America but you can't call a group of people ignorant while you are also being ignorant in the same post

The more I think about it the more I believe hip hop really shouldn't be treated as just a genre because it’s really not. I really don’t think there’s a genre out there that has as much political history and influence besides maybe punk music but still. I just think unfortunately the current white fanbase of hip hop for the most part are willfully ignorant in the history and purpose of hip hop in our country (assuming you’re American).

And like you said not everyone should be held to that intellectual standard but I think the world would be a better place all around if people learned to just listen and learn before they speak ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It's more so because of border disputes, political differences and foreign interference tho, much of which is a result of colonialism.
