chasing grail LPs <<<<<
going to a record store & buying a big stack of random, obscure secondhand 12"s for sampling & discovery purposes for the same price >>>>>>
Some y’all are acting like supply and demand isn’t real lol just because resale prices are high it doesn’t mean people are price gouging even though some def are.
S*** I think it’s worst to sell a record you love that might not be repressed for $250.
I was lucky to get in during a dead market where even in college, when I was broke, I was right next to Amoeba and Rasputin in Berkeley and you could go and find some real gems and gorgeous stuff for like 5 dollars at times. Now it’s a little crazy but I feel like vinyl is a nice avenue to celebrate music in this day and age. Frank Ocean burned me a couple of times tho. Lol.
i already did my vinyl collection phase back in 2015 when mcchickens were a dollar still thank god
Vinyl and sneaker head moneypits. I fluctuate between the two sadly. I’m a sucker but hey, you love what you love.
In the same token, the resurgence led to a lot of the City Pop stuff getting a surge of reissues over the past couple of years which has made me really happy.
Yeah I recently got really into vinyl and I was going a little too crazy for a while.
Any day of the week I could go on Reddit or browse a couple different sites and find a few that I “need”. Had to chill out a bit lol.
That being said though, if/when a $$$ vinyl gets released I’m buying it instantly lol
according to discogs, one of the most expensive albums bought in August was the soundtrack to Armageddon for $400
Banger movie, money well spent
same with a***ogue cameras, f***
& synths
You could get a Juno off eBay in the 3-800 range about 10 years ago now you’re dropping at least 1k 😭
For better or for worse, Social media & flex culture further commodified the whole entire idea of having a hobby or a dream, and demand is high for just about .. everything
i was gonna start collecting vinyl for my bedroom wall ended up going with CDs instead. a lot more options, audio quality is pretty much guaranteed, and most are less than $15 so i’m adding new CDs to collection each week
this is only like two month’s worth of collecting
u say dis but just yesterday i copped the sonic spinball vinyl for like 30 bux

Light in the Attic has been clutch for all that stuff
All Eyez On Me is a 4lp tho, idk if that’s the best representation even though you make some points
yeah i’ve always wanted a vinyl collection but it doesn’t seem worth it atm for more reasons than one. they’re fragile and mad expensive for no reason
They’re not really fragile lol I’m sometimes guilty of taking poor care, left my I Don’t Like S*** I Don’t Go Outside record on the floor in shambles out of case for a month and had scratches and played through perfect lol

Y’all find a way to complain about EVERYTHING.
Complained about CDs, then downloads happened.
Complained about downloads, then streaming happened.
Complaining about streaming and now physical product is making a return in prominence… and y’all are still complaining
