And I’m not sure it’s talked about enough. At least, the discussion feels like it’s always within the context of his death, which I understand is incredibly difficult not to do at this point, but I’d like to change that here because this really is a phenomenal record and a crowning achievement in his discog. It feels like all the elements he had been sort of toying with over the years through different aliases and various side projects were finally given the room and space to speak and it makes for an album that I don’t think I’ve ever quite heard before. I mean just listen to these

You can just hear the care in every record and How he was searching for something on this one. The same thing I think we’re all searching for. Freedom. Something real. I think the best kind of music or at least music that usually resonates with me, feels tangible and oddly familiar. Like a memory you cant quite form in your head or the sudden flash of Deja vu that leaves you dizzy but mooning over the prospect that you might have psychic powers 😄 This one feels like a warm hug from an old friend.
