    how come?
    supression and fear
alot of these black men also have white friends, collegeus, bosses etc..
they know whats at stake, which is sad to see how much control they have

u know how many times my fingers got slapped or words were ridiculed cause i stood up for being black lmfao
idgaf tho they gon hate anyways, specially if u doin ur thing they cant stop you

but as said, sadly not everyone is in this position
    or is mentally strong enough

(few yrs ago a black student here died during a student haz, by rich white kiddos, they completely tortured that guy with cruelty, trials started last yr, but as it looks, indeed the white rich kids are winning again.....)

Black men be on the front lines defending the wrong s*** more times than not. Shucking and jiving for white approval is never ok. If you can’t keep it 100 because you don’t wanna upset massa you’re a weak link no matter how you try to spin it.

like why shouldn’t you defend someone, or speak up for someone if you believe what you are saying. just because they are a different race? that’s wildly reductive and a backwards way of thinking.

as long as they aren’t hurting anyone physically mentally or financially, what’s the problem?

Why the hell would you wanna defend a white that says n1gger and have made other sus comments? Like what do you gain from that?

Tbh I've met alot of older black ppl here who really got it back cause they got f***ed over
Either by not playing the white ppl game(usually they move abroad)
OR because they play the game and always get f***ed over and just accept it....

Every black person here to them is from Congo(country they colonized) which means u posed to be their slave

Where i grew up i was the only black kid in an entire area, nobody even knew anything about my African roots and never even attempted to do so.. its f***ed up sadly

Youd be surprised how damaging it is for a black kid to grow up in a white community where they teach u racism is part of ur being,u shall undergo this
    =Brainwashing
Even adopted kids here take those tendencies from their caregivers....

thats cool you have sympathy for everyone, and i give everyone i meet the benefit of the doubt in idealistic fashion

to pretend that some white people (instead of all, since you’re so infatuated with semantics to take this weird pseudo-high ground above everyone else) are not closeted racists is complete ignorance

Idc if he been my homie for 20 years, once I find out he’s racist or have racist tendencies that nigga cut. F*** all the shucking and jiving.

The high ground? I just asked him if he thought his super personal and tragic experience was really widely applicable. You're the one who came in here saying I was invalidating him or whatever.

The page 1 stuff was super general and you just agreed with it. Like life is actually Get Out or some s***

yeah aka you’re engaging in semantics.

obviously he doesn’t mean every single last white person on this planet is somehow a racist behind the curtain, he’s sharing his experiences and how it’s shaped his views on race etc

you’re coming in here “tUh welL uH noT aLl yTS r bAD buCkARoo uR exPerIencE iSnT eVeryOne Else’S” no f***ing s*** dude, you’re literally purposefully drawing away from discussion to make an innocuous time wasting point

It's not a semantic issue when you say "the economy works this way because people have been racist to me" and "white people love calling black people slurs". That's not semantics. That's an entire racialized worldview.

You are being so uncharitable and confrontational right now.

i wouldn’t / don’t defend that. but i’m white so i feel like it’s different (at least from my perspective), i shouldn’t defend defend that

but if someone of the race affected by his comments defends him, maybe they know his true character, the person in op isn’t the only person who is black to defend him. i mean even India Arie said she doesn’t think he’s racist and doesn’t think he should be canceled

and anyway, that particular post was meant more in general, because i see on social media all the time people getting at people who defend people of a different race, even in situations far less serious than this

just weird to me, me and my friend group have always defended each other and we are all different races. for me, it’s who you trust, and who you know has your back

and that’s how i look at it with the people defending him, maybe they know more about him than us

Hierarchical social value systems are always going to try and stratify people and race is obviously a vector on which its done

    race is a vector

It's an obfuscating one. It's obviously important in diagnosing disparity to be intersectional, but identitarian categories are personalized and felt more strongly than someone's identity as a laborer which is the actual basis of their material exploitation.

People actually feel solidarity with their exploiters as soon as they share some cultural or racial or gender overlap. Like Elon Musk is on my side because he's a geek culture white guy or Jay-Z is my friend because he made rap music. Hell, even targeting them as individuals is more personalization of systemic issues.

My bad not “you” specifically, I meant generally. I just think it’s weak for people to stick their necks out after someone has said some very questionable things and have used a historical offensive word that was meant to hurt an entire group people. If I see a black man saying the most offensive things about Mexicans I’m not dying on that hill cause that’ll make me look just as bad. Whatever consequences that come from comments like that , the said person deserves, if it’s getting canceled so be it. It’s one thing to say off the wall racist comments as a kid but as an adult people KNOW better. They just don’t care. So I don’t think people should care enough to defend a person’s character.
