Huh?? It’s been 22 years since country grammar dropped and he still getting booked for festivals everyone knows the lyrics to his songs

Nelly run ended because guys like Kanye, 50 etc came along

All the newer gen guys who gonna be huge to surpass drake unfortunately passed away like x and juice wrld

Nah Nellys run ended cause he took 4 years off after Sweat/Suit and came back with his weakest album. Then he switched to pop and had a massive top 5 hit for the following album in 2010.

Yeah almost all legacy acts get booked still, I didn't talk about any of that

I said his peak run wasn't dominant and it's because his album run wasn't there

And even if any of those guys never passed, they still wouldn't be doing anything to surpass Drake
"Surpassing Drake" is a pipe dream that's been in the works since 2011, he's here and on top till he hangs it up himself

Nellyville is one of the best selling rap albums of all time. Dilemma and Hot in Herre are two of the biggest rap singles of all time. What are you talking about?

Arguably, Nelly, Eminem and 50 Cent are the only three rappers to be bigger at their peak than Drake. At least commercially.

Wayne was probably as ubiquitous but it was more off the mixtape side so sales didn’t necessarily translate.

    10 years of dominance?

I never said he didn't sell albums or singles lol, we know that
He caught 2 albums and went out

My point is he couldn't be "Drake before Drake" because he didn't do everything Drake does or even did coming into the game in 09. The hits are their only equivalence.

Don’t get me wrong I got Nellyville and Country Grammar on CD but I feel like people who compare drake and nelly weren’t there lol

They really arent that similar..like at all

Sweat and Suit were massive albums too lol. “Two albums and went out”

And he had a massive hit with Just a Dream ten years after Country Grammar. His issue was taking four years off (something drake learned from and didn’t do and also at a time where 4 year breaks between albums were way less common) and then coming back with a meh album.

I'd agree with everything you said if you didn't throw Wayne in their Wayne did a million first week with C3 and damn near did a million first week with C4,all during the biggest music pirating eras in history.

I guess I worded that weirdly, I was talking more like to say a lot of his big songs in that era weren’t on charts cause they were mixtape cuts that were downloaded off limewire and s*** lo

Never understood the Nelly = Drake comparisons being a slight to Drake considering Nelly was arguably the biggest rapper alive at one point. Both are great and icons in the game

  • the problem with nelly was that for how big he was he never really had that many actual hardcore fans lol

people really just f***ed with him cause his hits were money
