I love how in the show Ton’ & the guys acted like they were straight up Roman legion officers, when in actuality they were just fat crooks from Jersey
the actual complaint claims they sent a demo to weeknds team 2 years before it dropped. and that demo was used to make the final track
this process happens all the time but samples get cleared. so it could be a bad look if they didn’t clear it- would be more than just “oh this sounds familiar to my song”
Guys he’s telling the truth, Weeknd actually copied my song for blinding lights too (it’s unreleased tho)

Robin Thicke had one of the biggest falloffs in music history over a lawsuit because of the way the song sounded.

iirc robin thicke admitted in court that pharrel showed him the marvin gaye song and said that he was trynna go for that sound
edit: my bad , I misremembered it, robin never said pharrel told him about that marvin gaye song but he did throw pharrel under the bus by saying he wrote most of the song
